Bad ownership from multiple owners, cant run a business doesn't pay super, was a struggle to get tax invoice, bully owner extremely rude and not nice to work with, always a struggle every day to complete tasks since everything was always broken such as fryers, microwaves, ovens have only one oven to cook everything in, basically always something broken. understaffed having to do 10 things at once, some managers were bad and didn't know what they were doing, shows up late nothings ready when the store is open, e.g fryers not on , chickens not ready yet,sitting on phone in office watching video most the time

Hardest part of the job, trying to get everything done, coming in some mornings starting at 8:30am, store opens at 9am,  rubbish everywhere in the bin room broken bags with peas and gravey and chicken leaking everywhere, piles of boxs and rats running around,12 chickens to strip ( weren't stripped the night before while warm like procedure,got to fully strip 12 cold chickens) By the time iv filled sauces and made gravy,cooked bacon and sub rolls and filled everything its already 9am, line full of people enter store as soon as we open doors, fryers not warmed up, chickens still have 10 mins left to cook(managers fault) freezer delivery would be there stacking giant piles of boxes from the freezer to back door, customers then would order all different stuff like Tropicana pack,(chicken still in oven) mash and gravy(haven't made mash yet only enough hot water to make gravy and got to wait for the stupid machine) some smash burger( thered be only frozen avocado and none pulled out,( other staff not doing their jobs previous shifts ) haven't cooked crispy bacon cause was cooking normal bacon and subs in oven, got to climb over boxes to get in freezer to get pineapple fritter, drive through head set beeping,finally can put down stuff in fryer, chicken over beeps,drive through makes order something difficult to make, probs add something at the window of drive through and manager wont let me know so wont notice it on screen making wait times longer, got to wait and stick thermometer in to test chicken warmth,cut chicken try make mash, burger bun will get caught toaster, customers abusing, just a constant struggle trying to do so many things at once, trying to strip chicken and do dishes and customers constantly coming in and having to stop and and cant get stuff done , as soon as a orders done and go to put gloves on to strip chickens or do dishes head set would beep or customer walk through front of store, hard to explain in writing but yeah everything goes wrong

People doing drugs in toilets, wiping poo on the walls, people trying to break into the back of the store,customers being aggressive and abusive

Most enjoyable part of the job is going home at the end of the shift

People think that all our employees do is serve chicken but what they don't understand is how many strict requirements and rules we have to follow. We are expected too meet certain targets of sales each day, keep up exceptional standards when serving customers and still strive as a team when the day gets to busy to handle at times. I've learnt a lot about what it's like to be a team and how important it is for everyone to put in the effort so that everything can run smoothly and efficiently. I feel more confident and more of a people person now that I've had to be confronted with some challenging personalities in the workplace and just customers in general. I have picked up skills on how to deal with conflict and how I should act to get myself out of an uncomfortable situation. I feel as though certain people have shaped me and I've learnt how to open up and not keep to myself as much as I used to. I think all managers do so much to keep the store running as well as it does, one manager in particular does so much and I feel as if she goes unnoticed or people just can't be bothered to show their appreciation. She is always picking up the slack of others and working non-stop, even on her days off without a single complaint. I enjoy the time I spend with the people I work with, I get along with 95% of the staff. I like the fact that we all work hard but we can still have a laugh with each other. I love that mostly all of us are around the same age so I just click with everyone's personalities really well. I find myself getting very stressed when it's extremely busy and I feel as if though all the managers on duty care about is how fast the food is getting out to drive thru. It's so hard to balance serving people on front counter, taking drive thru head set, cashing out a car, packing the orders and still trying to tell the kitchen hand what you need. Sometimes they forget how stressful it can be for cashiers and they don't do much to help, especially when we are short staffed. I do like my job and I love the people I work with, everything just gets abit stressful and I am so eager to find a new workplace for a change of scenery and too learn even more new things and meet more fantastic people.

Working at Red Rooster was quite easy, serve the customers, make sure the restaurant was clean and tidy, keeping the fridges stocked and the toilets clean. Many things broke every week, the tills where/are a never ending problem, always turning off and breaking down (which is so stressfull when in a rush), the fridges always stopped working, tiles around the bottom of the walls fall off, and forever having problems with electricals in general.
In my time at Red Rooster, I learnt to keep the customer happy as often as possible and to be quick (with serving the customer, getting their meal and handing it out under or in 3 minutes) but at the same time being friendly and able to personalise the customers transaction with small talk.
The bosses at Red Rooster (who do not live in Maryborough) travel to Maryborough once a week to do the gardening and fix any problems that may have occured in their absence. Most of the team felt/feel they are not easy to talk to about any problems they may have within the workplace, and that they dont 'care' about the Maryborough shop like they care about their howetown shop.
The main manager who does the rosters often favours the younger people who work there who are also still in school, giving them too many hours for someone in school and giving someone who is out of school (like myself) 1 or 2 small shifts a week - if that - which is unfair to both the person in school and the person out of school who may have to pay bills and rent etc.
Everybody who works there gets along so well, its like one big happy family, its good to have a laugh with them whilst getting all our jobs done, and they are always there to help anyone on the team in need whether it be work related or not.
There wasnt realy anything hard about the job except for when a really angry or drunk person comes in and is hard to serve. And the most enjoyable part of the job would be being able to go to a workplace that is fun, helpful when needed, and having people there that make working there 100% better.

On weekdays I worked night shifts, at the front counter taking orders and packing the food. The place usually got busy from 6- 9 and we were constantly short staffed. So instead of having 2 people in the front and 1 at drive through, we would have 1 person in the front and another at drive through and it usually became stressful and overwhelming. At one point I had to do all tasks at the front including drive through because some workers called in sick and there was no one else available to call in, although I got help from the manager, it was not much as she had to go to the office constantly.

Anyway I got the opportunity of working with an amazing group of people since it was my first job. Staff had great energy and supported me when I started was a new recruit. My co-workers where all very interesting people, we shared good laughs with them, during peak hours, they where always cooperative and quick and focussed on their jobs which made things easier but as it gets less busy they tend to be playful and joking around. At the end of the day, it was my job to clean the eating area, stock the fridge and clean the restrooms as well as my work station. When I finished early I would go to the back and help them clean up as well.  

I learned a lot while working at Red Roosters although it was for a short time, I learned a lot about team work and reliability, patience and perseverance. I had to deal with customers who were sometimes rude and disrespectful this was the hardest part of the job but tolerable to some extant. There were a few customers who had complaints about some service, I learned how to deal with them. After all the customer is always right. 

The best part of the Job was being receiving positive feedback from the customers about the service we provided or the quality of the food. Also being able to have a short conversation with a customer and sort of improve their day with a complement or something of the sort.

In the event of opening and closing the store. A typical day at work for a cashier includes arriving at work around 9:50 am and doing spot checks in the toilet, dining area, alfresco and the fridge to ensure everything is clean and ready for the day ahead. After this typically for a morning shift you would begin making boxes for the daily trade and the then throughout the day you would be taking orders via front shop or drive-thru as well as packing orders, hourly spot checks around the store and top ups for the fridge. This typically goes on until about 9 pm (with breaks if working the full shift) when you have to begin tidying up the store for closing, this includes mopping, final stock ups of the fridge and other necessary jobs to ensure the store is fit for the next day.

Since starting this job exactly one year ago I have learned so much, I have become more confident and out-going, I've grown as a person and learned about the many ethnic cultures in our community. I have learned how to stock up fridges efficiently, how to pack bags and how to mop as well as various cleaning areas. I've honestly learnt so much from this job and I couldn't have asked for a better first job.

Rude customers would have to be the only downside to this job, those who are easily irritated or extremely impatient can really ruin your mood but the overall vibe of the store and managers really do lift your spirits quickly and these customers are very rare in my experience.

The most enjoyable part of this job would be paying off customers at the drive thru because there is something so satisfying with opening up and till and exchanging notes between customers while occasionally participating in a friendly conversation with amazing people.

A day at Red Rooster can be either really busy or really quiet,but either way there is always something to do. I learnt a lot while in this environment, how to respond to customers, build friendships, train people as a crew trainer and gained a lot of experience of different people. The managers are great and approachable, and very supportive. The people you work with can either become really great friends with you, or just not like you in general, but overall we're all mature and put aside our differences and work together as a team. The hardest part of the job, is meeting all customer demands as well as the demands of the work place, for example I'm multi-skilled so i know that its 1) hard to get the food out as quickly as we'd like to because sometimes things stop working, and 2) when these incidents take place I know its hard on the cashiers because we are the ones the customers tend to "yell" at. The most enjoyable part of the job is generally meeting new people and new customers, so any times I've managed to put a smile on customers faces and vice versa. And when you do your job really well customers thank you and compliment you on your hard work and for me that is a really big achievement - to keep a customer happy. Also another enjoyable part for me is the training of trainees as I get to teach and make more friends, this is probably the best part for I have very strong friendships with a lot of the people I work with and together we get to learn to grow.

i do openings i usually arrive at work between 20 to 10 mins early to get myself organised so i am ready for my first customers.
what i have learned is patience and understanding of different customers one customer might be a bit on the grumpy side and just a smile and a good morning can help their mood, also never expect each day to be the same.
the management are helpful and know their jobs.
our work place consists of different cultures and religion we are all  very happy to have different people within our work place and we all get along.
the hardest part of the job is that i dont get to spend a little bit more time to do more customer service as red rooster is a fast food  restaurant and we are expected to get the food out as fast as we are able to and doesn't give me a lot of time to chat to the customers especially when i do drive thru or are in busy times.
most enjoyable times are when its not so busy and i do get a chance to have a bit of a chat to a customer like the other day i was serving on front counter and a family was driving home from Kalbarri to Bussleton came in i had a chance to have a bit of a chat to them and  they were very happy having a chat as they were leaving i said to them have a safe trip home and i informed them the day before there was a bad accident on ocean road and they appreciated what i had told them and they said to me that my service was really friendly and nice and that made me happy to know that a customer was happy with my service.

I have worked at Red Rooster for over two years now, it was my first place of employment and has been, by far the best job. The management is fair and understanding, the crew members are honestly, my favorite people to be around with a few being my closest friends. I have trained a lot of the new crew and it has been the best thing to see them start out as shy, nervous school kids; into  loud, confident people that are always making everyone smile; it has been rewarding to know that I played a part in them showing their real selves and being who they are. 
Red Rooster has had it's moments with dramas with other crew members and managers, and also the odd abusive customer, but overall it has been the best experience so far. I have developed life-long friendships and learnt many, many things. I have learnt to be confident, to understand people. I have learnt how to perform under pressure and to meet deadlines, time management skills and organisation of duties, also, the ability to work as part of a team or individually. 
Overall, my experience at Red Roster has given me the best skills and experience to take with me into the "great big world" and to use them in any other careers that I chose to go into. Red Rooster has shaped me into the person that I am today.

A typical day at work as Cashier depends on the time of day - often you will work alongside the previous worker as they finish their shift so that the transition between tasks is easier - you focus on serving new customers or making payments while they hand out orders as they have a better grasp of who has ordered what. If you are the first person on shift that day you have to set up the store which includes cleaning both inside and outside of house, relining outdoor bins and sweeping the car park, taking down chairs, turning on lights, checking that fridge and supplies are stocked from last night's shift, popping boxes and unlocking doors. Then you will often help back of house with their tasks, such as peeling and shredding chicken for roles. Hygiene procedures are followed well. Typically two cashiers are on at any given time, though often only one cashier will close, which involves sweeping, mopping, cleaning toilets, the chip hopper, locking up and stocking fridge.  

Other co-workers are often cooperative and flexible with allocating tasks. More experienced cashiers tend to be able to perform kitchen hand tasks if needed and most cashiers are taught early on how to cook chips and serve drinks and salad. Handling customers was the most enjoyable part of the job, especially front of house. Picking up tasks was the most difficult; training involved observing other workers as well as online tasks.

typical work and friendly manager (although ocassionly unfair to workers), flexible hours, training was very minimal though which led to frustrating moments.

my main issue was with my coworkers, everyone had been working there together for years and were basically like a family, but whenever someone new came along they did very little to make them feel welcome and would constantly trash-talk them behind their back to the others every chance they got over the smallest things. shift managers would pick on new staff and wouldn't cut them some slack, and then you're expected to treat them with respect. i've been here nearly a year and I still barely know any of them well because they don't try to get to know you, even though I make the effort. they like to stay in their own little bubble and only talk to each other about things they do with each other outside work.

the roster was very flexible which is good for some people, but for me it was irritating to be chilling out on a saturday afternoon only to get a notification saying they wanted me to cover a closing shift until 10:30pm (didn't have much of a choice anyway because they'd shame you for not taking it). my manager would even make me cover shifts at the sister location without any extra pay or even any thanks. he seemed to have very clear favourites and if you weren't one you often ignored.

overall, the job is pretty average for fast food work, relatively very laid back compared to maccas. I imagine other locations would be great to work at but i didn't have a good time at mine.
