A good company to work for with a generally good culture focusing on balancing work and home life. 
They are going through significant changes and challenges trying to sort out if they are really want to be a 'Global' business or only focus on Europe and America. Asia Pacific always seems to be an afterthought.
Like all businesses, growing the business is not without it's challenges and the one which has been holding this business back is it's Information Technology function. It just never seems to be able to meet the business requirements and is always a constraint on executing opportunities.
If and when the business ever settles it's Corporate Structure (always changing) it will be a real player in the markets it tackles.

Busy,fun call center with enormous flow of inbound calls for various reasons such as price availability placing orders, liaising with sale team to generate leads with our duck tape team leader. Enjoyable part of the job is the communication between customer and you and building that rapport with lots of laugh among co-worker and learning new skills everyday. The hardest part of the job is not able to assist the customer with difficult inquiry on spot(eg: export shipments or lead time of goods coming from overseas without tracking details) but there is always a way around that which makes it more exciting and challenging to prove our service is the best.

This was a 6month temp contract. A typical day was to answer all incoming calls and re-direct or handle the call accordingly.
I would do the daily banking
Pay invoices and enter supplier invoices into the company system for payment
I found the co-workers to be helpful but very overworked and stressed due to low staffing
The hardest part if the job was leaving at the end of the contract
The most enjoyable part of the job was the lovely people who worked there.

9+ years i thinks shows how great i felt in the job 3 advancements over the period and sad to leave. Relocation was the only reason i left this Team. Yes RS is hard work due to the strong support from a large and diverse business pool, Requiring fast turn over of sales and attention to detail at all times. Strong support from departments with both head office and abroad to ensure ISO products delivered.

Was an Account Manager with RS. Not a healthy working environment to be in. So many changes it’s hard to keep track of. And changes are no benefit to staff only to share holders.  Commission structure is really bad and they just laid off around 30 staff and have had 3 Country Managers & 3 State Mangers within the last 14 months.

A lot of work for a small salary
Was a very busy call centre
Does promote team building but if your not a favourite you dont get far  
Not always a lot of support when there are issues.

RS Components is a great place to work. It is a Catalogue business that has moved into the digital space from a traditional catalogue business. There is a good work life balance and the business has seen continuous double digit growths in the last 5 to 6 years thanks to a solid business strategy in place.

I learned more about warehousing & customer service.

Excellent co-workers who were always there to help out.

The hardest part of the job was trying to increase sales in a tough market but with persistence and team work we always managed to overcome these hurdles.

managers are like lap dogs for those higher .
They are so micromanagers it’s not fun at all .
Losing good staff left right and centre . 
Under pressure all the time , no fun at work , you just want to go home and destress 
I would not recommend this company . 

Responding to emails from customers. I had learned alot on electrician tools and so forth. Working in the customer service team hand escalated my position to sales co-ordinator for the sales management team.
