Overall, much was learnt, great outcome and looking forward to my next mission.

After my nine month stint at RCR mining Adelaide , i was let go after haveing heated discussions with management about various topics,- safety , extra work , bullying on the work front.
The job it self was good - we had the task of reconditioning BHP Skips and Flasks ( devices used to move the ore from underground).
This included removeing the liners and replacing with new ones, removing moving parts( doors and closing parts) measuring for new bushes and replacing with new ones. As the companies only true machinist ( at that time ) it was my task to machine new components whenever required.
I was also being trained to recondition and calibrate Valves of all different types.

A enjoyable workplace.
Learnt some new skills from other workers.
Management lacking control and care factor which impacts the work preformed and delays many projects. 
Co-workers great and found most people sorting out things them selves. 
The hardest part of the job was dealing with all of upper management mistakes leading to some jobs becoming un productive. A simple re-structuring of higher positions and a defined explanation of positions and duties required for these positions would make this a great workplace to be apart of. To much hand balling and not enough communication.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the friendships formed and the hours were fantastic with great pay rates.

I worked at Cape Lambert, then at Silvergrass, having been both Mechanical Fitter & Leading hand. Cape Lambert was really great, management were firm but fair. At Silvergrass it seemed to be the flip side of a coin.
Workshop culture was very different to what I was used to, some supervisors made it difficult for staff by hording tools etc to only be used by their teams. 
The hardest part of the job for me was seeing the waste of both equipment and talent. (Towards the end of the job, most of the good supervisors were let go??? and the useless ones stayed)
I did however meet some great people up there and we catch up every now and then.

I would daily manage the Oilfield workshop, produce all Job cards including drawings API specifications and QA requirements for all jobs going onto the shop floor.

I would also have to invoice all work, keep all costs including labor costs for each job and produce a report for each job showing the margin.

I would also order all the requirements for the welding and machine shop for the OIl & Gas division.

The personnel were all experienced and mature which made management of the division enjoyable.

Workshop Fitting Supervisor for RCR Mining in Welshpool, WA. Duties – Supervising, stripping and accessing of gearboxes, pulleys, hydraulic cylinders and mining equipment in a safe manner. After equipment has been assessed and quoted, it was my job to make sure that the equipment was put back together in the client’s specification and tested before leaving the workshop. I was also the Shutdown Supervisor, in charge of Despatch/Receivable and relief Project Manager.

Solid work flow on something they manufacture.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Supervision is based on a very old style of domination.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Testing at times times of quite high risks which needs a conscientious  approach.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and at times arduous where your skills are utilised.

this job was underground so we did our pre starts above ground before driving underground to our job fronts where we signed on to our relevant paperwork before commencing to our job,we than discuss our work and start,management were good and co workers were also.
hardest part would be working in humid wet conditions so far underground.the most enjoyable part would be the satisfaction and quality of work in an underground environment

I worked for them for 11 years.
Left under great circumstances.
And was still well known to them when I was encouraged to
Re-apply. 
And their H.R. dept., let the company and myself down. By getting back to me 6 weeks later.
Saying the position had been filled.
Meanwhile,  I had turmed down several job offers, as I had loved working for them all those years.
It's not the same company any more.
Its just another Greedy Mine Engineering company. Who think their personnel are just numbers.


Initially the role of State Manager was 50% sales, as the company grew this role changed to 95% admin and 5% sales
The management for 50% of my tenure was great, the last 5 years new management was employed at the upper level and failed to understand the importance of good loyal customers
