A typical day at work would be spent preparing displays of specific products, customer service and upselling to customers. 

 Through this career I learned to fine tune my customer service skills in a rewarding environment.

The management and work place culture was very helpful and worked with me to the best of their ability.

The hardest part of this job is dealing with upset customers.

The most enjoyable part of this job was building the displays of new or sale items.

Start up registers etc Receive pallets & unpack stock & merchandise. Recover & tidy store check displays & ticketing etc. Authorise Times & rosters. Do some training with staff. Staff all very friendly & clicked easily. 
Hardest part of job was actually the physical element. Very big Canoes & BBQ's to move around.
Loved the customer service & type of customers that Rays Outdoors targeted,
Learned how to delegate & prioritise.
Regional Manager at the time was not very supportive of some staff.

Customers always came in excited to be there because they were going on an adventure and the staff I worked with were very helpful and always friendly to each other and to the customers.The management team couldn't have been better. I learnt a great deal about excellent customer service.

Older staff were consistently rude to newer staff, good job and pay, however management was messy, unorganized. Probably part of the reason why they closed down. At certain times of year, taking holidays were forbidden.

Lots of fun and a great team environment. The sales are fantastic and the chance to build displays and demonstrate products is good. Product training and the chance to make some commission on top of hourly rate is good.

the job was good meet some great people customers/co-workers. i learnt a lot of new things about products learnt that there are many different ways to go camping. the most enjoyable thing about the job is the smiling faces on customers when i helped them get what they needed.

All though it was a long time ago since working for Ray"s Outdoors i do remember to employment time to be very fast paced work with a lot of different areas to work in. 
The dispatch area did close down in Geelong and transfered over seas to China.

started as high school casual, after a couple of years was given keys to store on a part time basis then became a 2ic then became store manager, was a great fun place to work, i learnt neaps about different products

Rays was a great business with a good team.  I don't believe the decision to close down all but 17 stores was  the right way to go.

fun place to work but management lacking. enjoyable to meet and talk to customers and give them the products that best suited their needs.
