Worked for QGC which is the largest company producing LNG gas from Coal Seam Gas.   Project phase over the last five years. 
Complex company structure with several joint venture partners and companies. 
Challenging role looking after the Daily Cash Management requirements from the International parent company.
Daily Bank Reconciliation and Forecasting for five major bank accounts and 45 subsidiary accounts.

Lots of variety in the role and developing relationships with the wider business to be in touch with the forecasting requirements to keep head office informed of the cash requirements for overall effective cash management.

Accounting for all banking in SAP allocating to general ledger and clearing accounts.
Bank Reconciliation and additional General Ledger Account reconciliation performed each month.

Great office staff, management and culture.
Great mentors and management support within the finance teams.
Very strict reporting timelines.

A typical day at work consisted of overseeing multiple land access negotiations whilst co-managing a team of 16 people with a range of personalities. This would also include being the interface between the brisbane and field based teams.

I have learned to build relationships both inside and outside the company through effective communication, conflict resoloution, Land access governance and standards, negotiation.

The management team that I sat under and my co workers were very supportive and a pleasure to work for and with.

The hardest part of the job was trying to get our land access support team in brisbane understand the challanges we faced in the field and how they were impacting on field deliverables.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working in conjunction with a number of other departments and a range of personalities.

-Busy but productive

-trainings being offered throughout the year were beneficial to us employees for career advancement.

-management were very ecouraged all employees to do training and made the workplace a friendly work enviroment ..

- I had no problems with my co-workers they were lovely even the mangement (executives )our bosses were nice people i cannot complain.

-hard part of the job was loosing the job(company downsized)

-i enjoyed being a part of a team I learned and gained so much experience that made me more effective as an employee.

No such thing as a typical day as I was fortunate enough to work in a very fast paced ever changing environment.  I learned to think on my feet and work autonomously while still assisting the team.  This was not always easy due to the varied personalities and it was not without conflict but after each encounter I walked away with a tool to help me get through the next challenge.  The most enjoyable part of my job was bringing in the new starters and helping them on their journey.

Early starts to the day and late finishes, therefore 10 to 12 hours working were common, commissioning the upstream assets for QGC.
My focus was on coordinating  testing and signing off for the controls and instrumentation safety systems, that they were compliant to the design documentation SRS - Safety Requirement Specifications.

Great project, well engineered, great team of commissioning guys to work with - lots of project schedule pressure, but with team work and excellent work relationships we delivered an excellent successful project in my opinion.

Field Compressor Stations were just a shaded area on a map when I arrived on site.
 I stayed with the projects from day one , well past completion and through commissioning and hand over to operations.
 These were successful and well managed projects.
 What more can I say?

The company implicitly promotes cross-disciplinary interaction and continued staff development to improve core elements of the business. My co-workers have many years of experience, are creative and open to sharing ideas and concepts. Projects often contain very challenging goals and tight deadlines are not uncommon, but necessary.

Altought Management/Leadership vision some times struggles to connect with the technical requirements and business demands, then leading into decisions that potentially would compromise team performance and employee satisfaction, the opportunity to make a balance from that relays on each team member to collaborate for the success of the business, keeping the process integrity for the team.

The standards that QGC set are first class. An outstanding company to work for and a pleasure to have worked with so many dedicated people.

Let's get real, CSG projects are not O&G projects and management either. Good for beginners, frustrating for seasoned professionals. I'd recommend not to engaged with well engineering unless you want to have a good laugh
