Q&A Market Research

A typical day at work consisted of either a morning or middle or evening shift between 8.00am and 9.00pm. Depending on the marketing survey that was to being filled, there would be different questions being asked to people of a variety of different age demographics. The most important thing I learnt here was how best to deal with cranky customers who either equated market research with telemarketing or were very suspicious as to our real motives for calling them. Whilst these people were invariably always unco-operative, which likewise was also the majority of people called, I learnt how to keep my cool and stay friendly, polite and courteous at all times. The management always pushed for the quickest time "cut to the bone" approach in order to find the right age demographics, which my co-workers nearly always acquiesced to but I always insisted on being kindly to those who were called for the sake of success of future market surveys. The hardest part of the job was not the people being called so much as it was the toxic workplace culture of this call centre environment which I tactfully, peacefully, patiently and tolerantly endured  for sole sake of keeping the casual job I had. The most enjoyable part of the job however was the before-time and break-time conversations I had with fellow co-workers who had to also similarly persevere with the same market research calling difficulties.

Although you are not selling anything, the public will view you as a telemarketer and you will be treated as such lol.

Q&A market research was a really great place to work. Ideally suits uni students or an extra job on the side. No two days will ever be the same. Campaigns were different and didn’t last too long. The hardest thing about this job is that it will get boring and repetitive..but on the same token, you could do it effortlessly even after a big night. The management were always so supportive. Unlike other call centres it provided an hourly rate and some form of stability. The work you received is based on your own performance. I was shy and very passive initially, and I would get down after copping verbal abuse from the public. They trained me on how to handle responses, sound chipper even if I was dying on the inside and pace my intro so that it was clear but quick. After a while I started getting better at it and the more confident I got, the more work I received..especially during quieter times. The employees in general were all quite relaxed and easy going and still have some as friend years later. The skills I gained from Q&A have benefited me in my full time role as a client services coordinator in the health sector.

Surveying public face to face and over the phone.
Can be a bit stressful trying get quotas. 
Intermittent work throughout the year GREAT as a second job or if you are a student.
When it's on it's on... and you have to move it.
Be reasonably confident with technology-iPad etc

Staff I worked with pretty collaborative-my shifts though are largely by oneself- so if you are not a person that can motivate yourself may prove to be a problem. 
Money -not bad- pretty good with paying on time.
Management- the ones I dealt with quite nice people considering the pressure of the job for them to fulfil-KEEPING The clients happy, some big companies- nationally- at times I got a bit flustered- but they were on the whole reasonable.
Did not really do much in house with them so culture-not sure.
They do have people working at their base in Milton.

The hours suck, the pay is good $25ish/hour.
The jobs are not great, a lot of the political surveys are thinly veiled push-polls, the people you have to call often yell at you.
I've never actually experienced situational depression until i worked here.
I barely saw the sun for 30min a day, i wasnt getting enough exercise around the hours, i actually ended up having to get medical attention by the time i left due to my vitamin levels going completely bonkers from the lack of movement and poor diet the hours forced me into.

- LOTS OF UNDER 21S are employed meaning they can be paid lower wages
- LOW JOB SECURITY for anyone 21 or older and appallingly ageist attitudes by Team Leaders alongside this (probably because of the higher wages required for those of this age bracket)
- Exceptionally rude, arrogant, disrespectful Team Leaders
-  YOU’RE CONSTANTLY ON CALL AND ARE CALLED WITHIN HOURS OF YOUR SHIFT TO WORK/NOT WORK 
- Seems to have links to the Liberal Party

this job is amazing for anyone who is looking for something low effort and great at talking on the phone. really high turnover rate though regarding staff, pay is really good for the work, can be frustrating having to deal with unrealistic kpis and rude members of the public as you are cold calling them to do surveys, can get really boring and repetitive as well but other than that, not that bad but wouldn’t recommend 

Individual performance is a key focus at work, which promotes positive self criticism and self management during shifts. The roster is produced on a week to week basis where you can change your shifts with other commitments. The caliber of personnel is quite high and everyone either gets along quite well or just simply says G'day.

Not for the post-school masses as the management style is for children. An almost total turnover of staff in a 6 month period. Ridiculous process of periodically issuing so-called 'noncompliance' notices to everyone - hardly motivational. 

Working at Q&A Research requires a consistent high performance on the part of the employee. Certain requirements need to be met with each shift, so a certain level consistency is needed to function appropriately here. It is however a very rewardable environment filled with opportunities to expand on your duties.

You are always working to achieve quota.  There is a lot of variety working on all the different f2f projects with other Interviewers in a team environment or alternatively working by yourself at many different locations
