Absolutely loved this brand, the fun product, inclusive store teams, great 50% discount, occasional gifts and bonuses and quirky nature. However, the unrealistically high standards from customer service, to store presentation all while having to stay on top of the high operational demands (fortnightly stock drops, window and floor changes and strong visual merchandising demands) made for an environment where store managers (and therefore their staff) were constantly on edge due to being physically and emotionally exhausting. State team members were promoted based on personal relationships rather than merit. Team members were afraid to speak up about their flailing mental health for fear of repercussion - there were instances of mental health being gossiped about among the state team and seen as a reason for not promoting certain people. 
National Manager frequently joked about a baby roster (when it was certain RM’s turns for taking maternity leave) and even ‘joking’ about not being allowed to have babies.
The Just Group is a great place to learn about business as a whole and did teach me a lot above and beyond my role. The 7 brands mean that progression is easier if you are open to switching between brands. Team members are very connected to the brand and it is an inclusive team culture of people from all walks of life. 

Mixed experience overall. The team I worked with were mostly genuinely fantastic, supportive, fun, and hard-working, which made the tough days bearable. The staff discount is also excellent and makes gift-giving easy. On the downside, the workload is extremely heavy and keeps increasing without additional resources. High-performing stores seem to get less support from area management because ‘you’ve got this,’ which can feel unfair when you eventually do need help. Communication and follow-up from some area managers could be much stronger, and there were occasions where concerns about team dynamics, bullying, or harassment weren’t addressed as thoroughly as I’d hoped, especially when certain individuals were heavily favoured. For anyone considering a role here, if you want fast-paced retail with great immediate coworkers and a solid discount, it can be rewarding. Just go in with clear boundaries, this is a job that will take everything you’re willing to give, so protect your energy and don’t over-invest emotionally. With better support structures and more consistent handling of people issues from leadership, this could easily be a great place to work.

The company environment is tough and harsh at times. Managers do not like you talking with other staff members whilst doing stock or doing anything even if there is not a customer in the store. 

Management is in quite often along with VMs and they are quite intimidating and you feel on edge when they are around and make you feel incredibly nervous to do anything wrong and when you ask if they need help they will often say yes but then tell you off for how you complete your task. 

If you forget how to do things such as stock transfer or line count on the computer system they make you feel uncomfortable if you ask for a refresher course and will often point out how you forgot that part of the system. 

Other staff members can be quite friendly depending on which store. 

If you are a causal be prepared to be really casual as in one shift for three hours a week if you work in a concession store.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The team environment, the amazing styles and being able to wear them, the benefits, the coaching every few months to help improve on want you need and to let your team leaders know what they can do to help you. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Busy periods just because we are a popular store but they are always made fun and everyone supports each other and the snack boxes that we are sent helps alot too. Everyone get sooo excited over them and I love it.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's like a family. Not perfect of course not everyone's going to get along but everyone's kind and respectful. We all really love what we do and sell and our customers. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Good, laughs with co workers and customers. There's always something to do.

My manager was overall nice and friendly to begin with. But it was all fake, she was kind to the customers then turned around and had a fat yell at me for asking another casual for some help. 

The other casuals told off anything someone said or did wrong and did not stick up for one another. 

There were some really rude customers who purposefully messed up the shelving. 

The hours were bad as I needed money and something to do with my time but I only got 5 hours a week max because there were 8 xmas casuals where they could have asked for half of that and given the employees more hours and a pay increase. 

I didn't learn anything and had an overall terrible experience and I don't want to walk into the store anymore.

Peter Alexander was a fantastic workplace. It was fast paced and exciting with so much one on one customer service experience. You learned to work efficiently on clothing presentation and stock take while prioritizing the costumers. The management was well planned and the managers were all friendly. The culture in that shop was unbelievable: everyone was so inviting and close knit which aided in the overall ambiance of the shop. The hardest part of the job was keeping on top of things as it could get extremely busy but the workers and the costumers made it so enjoyable.

PA unfortunately don't care for their shop assistant's mental health nor do they respect you. You will be walked all over, underpaid and undervalued. Overtime is expected but you quite often aren't rewarded or thanked for doing so. Upper management are rude and can bully you to get what they want. The exceptions of the store managers and shop assistants are unfair and somewhat unachievable. The company ONLY cares about bringing money in and do not care for a good work culture. As a manager there is no work/life balance. 

Not bad hours given when my time freed up as a casual, and what's taught is useful for furthering/staying in a retail career. Really nice employee discount. Management and team members not as great as aforementioned factors. Teams can be competitive (not in a good way) and exclusive and sometimes it does not even feel as professional a place as it should be, being such a big brand in a big company. 

I was a christmas casual and the workload for the period was more than enough, working good hours. It was great for retail experience and most workers were welcoming. However, the environment was reasonably competitive (regarding being kept on post contract) and also i found that your hours mainly depended on how much they liked you and how good you were. Could be a bit toxic at times but support for that was made clear.

for a company that is thought to be on the upper end selling expensive pjs and making thousands a day easily, you would think that they would be able to pay more for the long hard hours we put in. the discounts are good...when a manager is there to give them to you which is hardly ever. the obsession with making budget to the point employees feel the need to buy to make budget is well, sad.
the people themselves are always happen and it does make the day go quick but that's really it.
