Daily job duties:
Set up snacks, drinks, soup, dessert, prepare buffet for mains.
Check all temperatures: fridges, freezers, soup, food warmers
Check all food for expiration dates and remove old items
Clean out hot beverage machines and refill
Turn on all dishwashers and check that they are working properly
Ensure children with allergies know what they can eat and what to avoid
Pick up hot food from Perisher's cafe and prepare to serve
Oversee upwards of 650 children are fed lunch
Put away left-over food and mark expiry dates
Clean and sanitise all surfaces
Hardest part of the job was making sure each child had enough to eat, ensuring we will pass meticulous health inspections during busiest hours of operation.
Most enjoyable part of the job was getting the children to smile, personal reward of taking care of them.
Management was wonderful, I only worked under one boss and she was a hard-working and highly respectable manager.

Opening up the Perisher Valley Hotel first thing in the morning, unlocking doors, obtaining cash floats, making sure staff are on time for duty.  Preparing the over-snow vehicles to transport guests to and from the alpine Ski Tube/Car Park. Leading a team of porters to coordinate guests arrivals and departures. Adhering to all guests needs and requirement including, ski and equipment hire, ski lessons, child care. Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel inside and outside throughout the season. There was no part of my role I found hard and working in an alpine environment knowing that our guests were content was the most enjoyable part.

As an internationally qualified instructor I came to Perisher with experience and knowledge of the industry. 

Perisher were employing unqualified Australian's / backpackers putting them through an Australian basic qualification and expecting them to teach. 

Myself and other international instructors were being passed up for work in favour of lesser payed Australian instructors / and those with limited experience. 

Large class sizes and really unsafe work practices. 

Staff accomodation was not guaranteed and made for an uneasy workplace.

Most coworkers and some managers are friendly and supportive.
HR and staff accommodation were helpful during the lockdown. Suggest people to drive otherwise you find very very inconvenient to live in Perisher.

Perisher Resort is a fantastic place to work. I did 3 seasons as a lifty. I'm done now, getting too old and need a better paying job/want to try something else. 
The people you meet are amazing, you can learn so much, and its a beautiful, setting to work. 

Would highly recommend. Some days can be boring...and cold...but its super worth it 

Great job that allowed me to meet new people easily, do what I love and learn how to operate lifts. Our manager was cool and there was plenty of staff parties. Was also good to always be on snow.

Customer service is my background, I enjoy helping people and greeting them on their new exciting adventure. Whether it’s on and off the lift, showing them around the resort or even telling them the best food destination.

Best ski resort, Great people, working with people from all over the world. Great skiing, varied experiences. Bucket list employment for many people. Terrific

Great place too work for a snow season, fun, friendly atmoshere.
There are many long hours in the cold.
Great atmosphere amoungst co-workers everyone is easy too get along with.

Management is not selected with proper requirements and the company does not give enough training for new employees with little to no experience in the field.
