Paul Sadler Swimland

My time at paul Sadler was not one to forget. I enjoyed so much of my time well spent here, I fell in love with the job and the joy that it brought to me. Though the pay wasn't the best (since I was getting paid at a trainee level, once you get your qualification then you'll be payed more+age/experience will increase pay as well). One challenge I came across was trying to fit in with the other staff members, I found it very difficult and quite isolating feeling left out all the time. Another challenge that I faced was trying to balance work/life. Though I did rate 5 stars for good work/life balance for most, I did have a difficult time being very sick during the time of my employment which affected my work and performance. Because of this difficult moment, managers had put me on probation. I eventually left my job shortly after, before I could be asked to leave. I did it for the better, because it gave me the opportunity to manage my own health. It's been over a year since I left, and though I had many barriers come my way, I do miss the job. I miss it every single day, despite the negative parts of it all, it blew my mind how each shift was always such a positive outcome. Watching those children achieve goals they thought they never could, watching them laugh and have fun. Watching their parents cheer them on and looking at their child so proudly. Those little moments were what I lived for at the work place. I love those children more than ever, and that is why I miss it. 

Been working at multiple sites for the past 10 years, the one that stood out like a sore thumb is Essendon though it is spreading.

The idea of teaching the kids are great or use to be, the other side though, especially if you are full time is awful. Complete lack of leadership, from the Management team and above. Unrealistic goals, deadlines and budgets. The place cant hold onto a manger more then a year and it is starting to show in the teaching side too.

The best way to describe the change is that its gone from a democracy where everyone had a say, a way of teaching, their own style to a dictatorship where everyone has to teach the same way.

Pay is still lacking even on the new award, but they are refusing to acknowledge it.
Shift times are cut all the time. Over staffed. Under-trained. You don't gain  anything but experience to take with you into the real world.

If you are looking to work your way up and make a career for yourself, this is not the place. No matter how much hard work you put in. Once you get up there you will quickly realize how under developed and out of date the framework for the company is.

If you are looking for a side a job then look elsewhere a lot of smaller swimschools pay better.

As a first job while still in highschool is the only real viable option as you can start working here earlier then other places 15 years.

I’ve had many jobs over the years, but working at Paul Sadler Swimland has been the first job I’ve truly loved. For the first time in my life, I don’t feel anxious or dread going to work, I actually look forward to it. I leave most shifts feeling happier, more confident, and genuinely fulfilled.

The environment is so supportive and welcoming. My coworkers are kind, fun, and easy to get along with, and the managers are honestly incredible, understanding, accommodating, and truly caring about their staff. The job itself is fast paced and engaging, so the shifts fly by, and there’s always laughter and a sense of purpose in what we do. I’m really grateful to be part of such a positive workplace.

Before each shot you would a pre brief to understand what happening this week and the coming weeks. 

One of the hardest thing a about the job is being watched by your co-workers and being assessed after you have become a fully qualified teacher, and if you little things wrong like not follow the lesson plan exactly you are heavily penalised. Marking is also varied between each assessor, so it is not consistent at all. You can fix something that one assessor tells you to do than you get marked down by another one.


THEY ARE VERY INCONSISTENT.

The staff are all amazing, everyone is like family

Dealing with the precious parents that think their child is going to be the next Ian Thorpe when they’re floating skills are as great as the titanic

Work environment is great, you look forward to seeing the staff especially when you spend so much time with them daily 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours in the water, being physically exhausted by the end of a shift

Fun to work with kids
Great childcare experience
If you love swimming and children this is a great job choice
Their management system worked very well in terms of training
I however did not enjoy working with the other workers, as they treated me poorly, i felt like i was treated like a robot.

Fun working with kids, excellent training, hours dependant on class size, don't supply enough uniforms, if you can't make your shift if you or your family are sick  it's your responsibility to ring around to find someone to cover. This can be very stressful when you have a sick child at home. Apart from that a truly great place to work.

have to work around 10 hours a week and its pure stress. Management does not care about there employees and overload them with things to learn in a short period of time. Plus water is disgusting and made lots of teachers sick and itchy. Never work here.

Paul Sadler is great and fun environment to work with a great team! A typical day at work goes nice and quick. The work is very engaging and fast paced. The job is very interactive which is what makes it so enjoyable!

My typical day at Paul Sadler Swimland would consist of assisting the teachers in the water and to help out when necessary. I was also a certificate writer and wrote out certificates to those who was awarded one.
