Palm Lake Care

A typical day at work after handover is to make sure the highest possible levels of care for the residents and make sure their safety. I learned that each person has their own technique of working strategies and I learned how to adjust with them as well as with the delivery of care a resident prefers. I can say that palm lake is being well managed. I must say that the hardest part of the job is whenever there will be a short staff during morning shift because then we need to make a huge adjustment and manage our time effectively while the most enjoyable part is whenever I interact with the residents, talk to them and get to know more about their previous lives and how they are in the present.

I was there for my work placement for my Aged Care certificate III.

It was a pleasant enough place, I learned a lot from there, workers worked hard and were nice people but could have shown a bit more compassion toward the residents.

They don't follow by some of the duty of care rules which I disagreed with, Residents weren't given much choices with even the smallest of things.

Amazing people who for their faults, were really hard workers and in a new and understaffed establishment, they dealt well under all the pressure, doing the best they could.

Management unapproachable, very inconsiderate and mean, cuts you off when speaking, talks down to employees, very rude and nasty.
Team work non existent unless one is prepared to brown nose certain people, 
 toxic, environment, lots of back stabbing and lying
Very immature behaviour from  certain, employees who have been there longer in certain areas, 
Sabotaging others work, then reporting it, 
Certain employees, who have worked there since opening, think they own the place, like a queen bee attitudes. 
Horrible atmosphere in certain sections.

Always understaffed, underpaid, unappreciated. They make so many guarantees during the employment process, which evidently did sound too good to be true. Residents are looked after by care staff, but that's as far as the looking after goes.. Facility manager is extremely unqualified, is only seen or heard from when the higher up bosses need something done or are on site. Head nurses are quiet invasive, quick to pass the blame and spread rumours.

Top wages, top conditions .a pleasure to work for.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not too much stress at all. Good teamwork.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Excellent .I enjoyed going to work each day.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Doing assistant nursing duties. All shifts have delegated breaks.

Understaffed. Overworked and underpaid. No appreciation whatsoever. The facility manager is rude and doesn't care one bit about staff or residents!! The working conditions are terrible and the things they have been getting away with is...  wow. Unbelievable. Goodluck finding time for a break. If you're still gonna work here, make sure you join a union!! You're gonna need it.

Under staffed, management does not follow manual handling procedures. This is a place where no matter how well you work, management will no acknowledge you. The people that live here are not cared for properly.

Negative and uncaring culture, feedback not addressed, RN's on a power trip and don't acknowledge the knowledge and worth of their PCA's. Very little staff appreciation 

Fast pace hardworking low pay no recorgnition for your hard work manager is very controlling and you are allowed to move from section to section you have to stay in the position you are hired for.
