Senior management was not accepting of new strategies for growth. They refused to promote a relatively unknown brand though obvious marketing structures and channels. Refuse to have regular staff meetings due to cost, regardless of poor teamwork through the business units.

The business manager shared his time across several business units. He was not approachable and very much an archaic 'do it my way' management style manager that came from the supply chain rather than sales, so lacked the basic understanding of sales.

PPG global are absolutely driven by share price, and this dictates staff numbers versus sales figures, and that threat is always mentioned several times during meetings

Communication from top-tier management down wasn't always fantastic.
A typical day was spent taking and mixing orders, as well as organising the shop.
Co-workers are all focussed and hard-working.
The hardest part of the job was definitely to grow the business; policies put in place, while practical and logical for the business, tied our hands and gave us little leeway.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the people - customers and co-workers alike. Good, honest, hard-working people.

I was hired on as a contractor and later extended to full time. This was a smaller manufacturing site. People were friendly from the very beginning. Excellent on-boarding and adherence to safety best practices.
People worked well together from engineering to operations, maintenance and management. Strong focus on results and cooperation to achieve results. We worked hard, but still were able to have fun while doing it.

Current Supply Chain Manager at PPG is inexperienced for the role. NO strategy planned to work and achieve the milestone. Attitude of Supply Chain Manager is if business is happy at 90% service level why to put in more efforts to improve it . Overall Senior management have NO experience in managing the day to day challenges and are NOT bold enough to make decisions in favor of PPG. Also employee contract is Misleading and expectation is to work more than 37.5 HRS every week.

that at times its seems a little out of touch with the Australian market ,
extremely cut throat when it came to roles and peoples positions
not scared to move people on , career progression withing PPG is capable and realistic , some great people within the company 
but change of management has seen alot of people leave over the years , forever in the shadow of its competitor DULUX

I joined PPG industries as a casual worker in QC testing.First thing,without any notification they ll change shifts. The base pay is lesser than a casual cleaner in Melbourne. No job guarantees. And if you apply for other relevant jobs , you ll be fired.Basically they ll treat you like a human garbage. The management ll never hear anything about casual workers and no one ll help you or ask you.Do not join this company as a casual worker.

Was a paint demonstrator but was sent out training and doing more then my contract was described . There was no traing and was expected to go out and train people with no equipment,  lucky I had my own. Most of the area managers never answer their phones.

I could recommend working for this company. I experienced a work related accident where management never followed up the incident or how my health was then when the company insurance excepted claim after IME the State Manager claimed I had resigned which is far from the truth. The whole experience has affected mentally and the whole situation disappointing.

really flexible with work hours, but all hours are billable because most people are contractors so if you dont work you dont get paid, which is understandable.

Management are understanding of personal commitment, but take no notice of exceptional work and only get involved if there is something to complain about. 

pay is good. 

I enjoy the variety of duties associated with my role as a Business Development Manager, I interact with a varied range of people, from General managers and CEO's, down to purchasing officers and  paint applicators. One day is never the same as the one before, and I am always learning.
