I was the first female trucki driver to be hired at pfd. I started training at Penrith warehouse for 1 week and moved over to Chullora. 10pm at night, had a text message from METRO ON HIRE! And was told it was canceled. I waited 2 days and finally got a call to go into the warehouse at Chullora. I had my induction and then was told to go take the utes to go them serviced. ( I haven’t yet worked or gotten to know how things are run at pfd) the next day, I had to find were the invoices are. Load my truck without the knowledge of anyone helping me. Then by the end of my shift I was told by the transport manager I would get a call for when my next shift will be available. 1 week later I was offered a position in the warehouse working night shift (not something I have applied for)  Pfd have advertised on there job listing that they equal employment.. if you are a women truck driver and you wish to apply for this role. I would highly suggest looking for a more professional role, Were equal employment is achknowledge

A typical day at the office would be to process daily customer orders, go into the freezer and chiller to pick products for later distribution.

What I learnt was driving a forklift, picking and packing frozen and chilled products, delivering products to relevant customers.

Management was excellent and always supportive of my work efforts, and always assisted me at times when needed.

Co-workers were great fun to work alongside, and were also supportive too.

Hardest part of the job was the physical demanding picking and packing and delivering of products to customers.

Most enjoyable parts of the job were the physical aspects, working with positive minded co-workers, enjoyable work/life balance.

What is the best part of working at the company?
4 weeks leave.  Is about the best part of working for this company,  and probably the friendship of the customers  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The way that upper management treat their staff, expect to work long hours for little reward and absolutely no respect from those in the office. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
TOXIC ,  Your just another notch on the wall of employees, will be the worst working environment you've ever experienced,  every day is the same as you get no support and just pushed more and more, the door here is revolving and as one goes another poor sole arrives. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Groundhog day, it's the same every day.

Pick n pack orders for all trucks in the morning so you dont have a clue whats in your own truck then you are scrambling / scratching your head to find each customers orders all day long because the items are picked in bulk per item rather than picking each customers order in lots
Then to top it off all off not one truck leaves until all orders are picked in the morning then about 10 or so trucks have to load form 2 loading docks, absolutely ridiculous setup??? unbelievable!
Other PFD branches might run a more organised & somewhat sane setup but anyone could see this is just not the best way to run things efficiently
Not a bad team to work with but a terribly disorganised workplace

A typical night would be picking orders for country deliveries followed by picking and loading local deliveries. I found new skills like working in the office and product control.My fellow co-workers were a great bunch of guys,but the only problem was that we had a steady flow of people coming and going.The hardest part of the job was it can a bit hectic especially when the drivers arrive and we were still loading their trucks as they had customers who needed their goods at a certain time.The most enjoyable part was the people and it was a fast paced job so it made the night go quicker.

I was first employed at PDF Food Services as a Night Shift Supervisor, it was my duty to lead my team to correctly pick, pack and load out trucks. One of my primary duties as a Night Shift Supervisor was to ensure overtime as a team was reduced and managed to reduce this by an overall of 25 hours a week. I was then promoted as an Administration Manager, where I was required to lead a team, ensuring the smooth running of the business. As the Administration Manager at PFD Food Services, I was given many deadlines and targets which I continually met. Training was also a high priority for me in this role.

Poor management, will only talk to you when you have done something they don’t like, never get a Goodmorning or how are you not even a thankyou for going above and beyond.
Management will only talk to you if it’s suits them.
If you enjoy cleaning up after a possum that lives in the depots then you’d enjoy working in the warehouse positions.
If you enjoy being spoken down to and work til you drop you’d enjoy the truck driver positions.
Branch manager is never around.
Your pay will constantly be wrong and you have to chase it up several times and even then nothing gets done about it.

Can be ok at times, if you are happy being a robot that enjoys doing the same old day in and out .

Impossible to advance yourself to higher roles.... unless you are willing to be a suckhole to the bosses, act all juvenile like the "team leaders" do or be best mates with the supervisors on a certain shift.

Certain staff members on a certain shift enjoy bullying, but its all "fun and games, have a joke and laugh" when they get confronted about it and the supervisors do nothing.   

Alot of the long term workers who have been there many years want out or have already gone

What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked in the central west and under area management. Flexible and understanding. Managers have "want to help" attitude.
Great work/life balance

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
If KPIs stress you then it will be that. Personally the stock issues from HO was the most stressful

Culture is excellent. Staff are helpful and work as a team

Relaxed and positive for the most part

The place is toxic and comes from management and  the head Rep that don't care how much pressure they put on the truck drivers and if any goes wrong on rep part they just and up blaming the drivers or warehouse staff for the mistakes.  And the way trucks get load are ridiculous and the way pallets get loaded to

Drivers are always getting hurt from way things are stack on pallets and the way trucks are loaded
