Outback Steakhouse

An engaging work place where you always have something to do. Has great potential but is overshadowed by the low hourly rates and NO PENALTY RATES ON WEEKENDS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS. Shows little appreciation for employees who gives up every weekend to work hard and serve other customers.

If management is reading, please show that you appreciate your employee's hard work (particularly during weekends where we miss out on opportunities to catch up with family and friends and often have time off requests rejected) by paying penalty rates.

Learning and developing skills and strategy, the work environment among other workers are treasurable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Cooking food for over 400 guests dinner rush on a weekend…. Challenging!

Everyone are nice and friendly, making it an unforgettable work experience.

Work work work, busy busy busy

Worked here for half a year. 
Even though the training was great, everything else was awful. I was way way underpayed, pretty sure illegally under minimal wage underpayed. Management used to harrass the employees and made my and other people's time there impossible. 
Atmosphere and good friends, as well as great training and also you get to keep your own tips (sometimes big)... unless the managers  steal them from you...

Definitely, a fun and useful place to work for your first job. Teaches how to be flexible and work under rush hour pressure while also teaching essential skills for the workforce. The people I worked with were absolutely lovely, and always made me feel at home. 
The hardest part of the job is being expected to work long hours, and sometimes without breaks, and you also have to pay for your lunches.


One of the aspects I value most about my role is the chance to create memorable experiences for our guests. I have strived to provide not just a meal but a true dining experience, welcoming patrons with a genuine smile and ensuring their comfort throughout their time at the steakhouse. The positive feedback received from guests has been incredibly rewarding, and I am honored to have played a role in enhancing their dining enjoyment.

The job itself is good if you love hospotaility I really enjoy it. Part time permanent contract was in place but received minimum hours. Even raised my concerns with the managers and they didn't listen to me if not gave me less hours. The workers  are the best people there making shifts manageable. If you're looking for a job who can commit to giving you work hours don't come here. 

I usually start at work early morning before the trading hour of the restaurant. I start by preparing things needed for the service. 

I've learned how to work well with people by sharing ideas, listening to them and helping each other. 

The workplace is fun because everyone is a friend and everyone is approachable.

The most enjoyable part of the job is when you give satisfaction to the customers.

Seating customers, answering phones, taking food out to tables, taking orders, cleaning tables, organising books, managing host stand, taking payments etc.
Most enjoyed part of my job is making customers happy. Hardest part is when things go wrong that are out of my control and it upsets customers.

Outback Steakhouse was my first job, it is a very busy and fast paced working environment. Working there helped me cope under lots of pressure in the kitchen when two hundred people are waiting for food outside. I moved through positions until I was head expo and trained new employees and controlled what went out to the public.

While it was busy, and you were constantly working, it was always fun - the managers were all really nice and helpful if you had an issue.
I learned how to use a point of sales system, and how to interact with customers.
Management was all really good
Workplace culture was great - all employees were really friendly and helpful and made work fun
