The team as a whole is very supportive of the growth of one another both professionally and personally, we really are like a family. The management team in particular are fantastic and always help us with any concerns raised or if we are struggling. For example, just last week Jayne one of a salon partners for both manly and carindale took time out of her busy schedule and came into salon for the specific purpose of refining our skills in glossing when she heard the apprentices were struggling a little. This is what makes us want to stay and thrive because we know people care for us and only to to help us succeed.

I have never stood still in the company. Always had opportunities to further my career, including education both internal and external and leadership opportunities. 

I have always felt extremely supported in all the salons that I have worked at within the Oscar Oscar group. And the team I currently work with are now more like family than co-workers. Extremely supportive and uplifting. 

Management are always looking for ways to improve our work/life balance, from being extremely flexible with work hours to buying us lunch on Saturdays. 

I have been with OO Salons for over 7 years and I won’t be leaving anytime soon. 

I have never felt more supported and challenged in my life. The owner and on site management team and all levels of senior management always checked in with me to see what more they could offer me to keep me moving forward. I get bored easily and I always need something to focus on aside from the regular day to day tasks. After finishing my apprenticeship early I was able to focus on the financial incentives that are uncapped while I worked to perfect my skills so I could move on to the next goals of training and management etc. 

It is very hard work, but it would be lying to say it isn’t fair work. Every minute of effort put in is rewarded in turn and to scale. I felt like everything I did was earning my right to the next step and communication on my plan for the future was always transparent. 

Long hours and super stressful. 
Management aren't fantastic always putting pressure on you and never really there to help you. 
Loved the salon but it seems more like everyone is fending for themselves instead of working as a team. 

As a an apprentice you get treated very poorly most of them are bullied in some form of way. Bare minimum wage definitely not for someone living out of home. 

As a senior stylist the pay was definitely better but only if you were able to hit a relatively high target each week, even if you did hit those targets you would be luck to see even a 1/3 of it, with most of the money going to the owners. 



As you can imagine, lots of expectations from the salon to perform at top level.  You are expected to put in lots of hours training and doing over-time if need be. 
You do get to learn what it's like to deal with high-end clients with expectations to match.

Unfortunately the base salary/hourly rate doesn't match the expectations and performances.  Yes there are bonus system, and they pay more than award, BUT as a senior hairdresser with years of experience, why would you work for "award" anyway, let alone expected to perform at the top end.

Good experience for a period of time.  If you want to head into competitions and photo shoots, then it is a perfect salon.

Incredibly toxic environment. 6 staff members and counting (from one location) have left the company due to concerns of poor management being raised and not handled professionally by Head Quarters due to personal friendships getting in the way regardless of proof and numerous complaints.

If you have the mental stability to deal with passive aggressive management, verbally manipulative phone calls on the daily, your mental health not coming first and can maintain a relationship with narcissistic personalities... this is the job for you. Good luck.

I’ve worked for Oscar Oscar for 13 years. In that time I’ve advanced not only skill wise but as an adult. My team has been with the company from anything between 1-10 years and we all are like a family. 
The training and development is the best in the world. I’ve lived overseas and haven’t learnt anything like what I’ve learned at OO. 
It’s not an easy job- the guests have high expectations, however we are rewarded with high commissions and great incentives. 

I've been lucky enough to work at this hairdressing salon for the past nine years.  The team culture here is amazing. We're like a big family, always supporting and encouraging each other. It makes coming to work a joy every day.
