Enjoyable, busy workplace.
Typical day is shift work on a rotating weekly basis (well, it was when I was there). Morning shift or afternoon shift.
Learned a lot about the steel industry, more when I became the warehouse supervisor, than I did from my predecessors.
VERY safety conscious, high regard for safety.
Hardest part of the job was dealing with those who didn't have the same safety values.
Most enjoyable part of the job was that I was busy from when I arrived, til when I left each day.

I started at Orrcon in October 1997 and progressed to different departments within the factory until 2003 where I was appointed as backup store person, 2005 I was appointed the role of full time receiving store person I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my job, it was challenging, rewarding and I got to interact with management from all levels and also suppliers when issues arose with items we ordered didn't arrive on time. My role was made redundant in July 2012 due to the down turn in the business.

A typical day at work started with switching on all office equipment answering any calls that would come in opening mail greeting customers, then once a week organising the banking sending any postageout. 
My co-workewrs made being at work enjoyabale the best part of my job was greeting the customers as alot of them were returning customers so easy to build a repore with.

Business is owned by Hills holdings - a new CEO has seen changes in the steel businesses at Orrcon and the branch i was working at was closed in late February ,

The business has great systems in place that help with the flow of customers orders

been with orrcon for 20years wearhouse superviser in the morning open the wearhouse check truck driver runs make sure they get loaded and check off before that do all the safety check cranes forklifts slings i do the invoiceing and get the trucks unloaded and checked and booked in and im the first aid officer and on the safety officer

A very high pressure job if your production crane operator.
You learn lots of different skill sets.
management is very well organized. 
co-workers are great to work with .
The rotating shift take a bit of getting used to.
For me it was knowing i put in a 100% and going home safely.

load and set up trailers, not really any opportunity to learn more, keep experienced operators doing all the work and not giving any chance for new people to move forward. culture is great however not allowed a little entertainment during work ( no horse play). best part bout work leaving for home.

Supervisors and site manager are friendly and understanding people. Health and safety is well organised and strict upon. Perfect and safe environment to work in.

Great company to work for and they have a great culture, Great job security and your rewarded for your efforts .

Very switched on company great to work for and involve all staff in operation. 
Excellent Mainenance culture with aim to reduce repetitive failures.
