From the beginning I had the hunch it was all too good to be true. They have what they like to call "self-organising teams" which is anything but that. You are expected to do your position and also take upon additional roles as the teams do their own marketing, budgeting, etc instead of having a specialised role specifically for that. 

Additionally with the high staff turn over you will frequently be asked to fill in WHILE ALSO continuing your role at that location. Management is extremely poor in their role and issues that are raised to them are almost always overlooked.

The staff are great individuals committed to the "Values" One Door has but sadly are never acknowledged. I was often asked to do work related trips which in the long run were actually a waste of time and resources for the organisation itself. 

Overall the pay and the wording they use make their jobs attractive but they are far from it. You will be over worked and thrown around without any recognition of your commitment to bettering the communities knowledge around mental health and the services you strive to provide them. Despite doing social work they would never change our titles to reflect our true work roles.

As the Admin Manager of the company, every morning great my team members and have a quick chat with them to ensure that everyone knows her/his daily tasks  in order to finish everything on time. Ensure that the receptionist is at her desk and have a chat with her as well. Reading my emails and respond to people. Provide support to my team either by explaining something regarding their tasks or help them how to prioritise their workload. Attending meetings and collaborate with internal staff or external stakeholders. 
I learned the way of speaking to people with mental illness and how to make them feel useful and respectful in the society. This knowledge is part of the workplace culture - to reduce the stigma and give the same opportunities to people with mental illness to be part of the community.
The hardest part of the job was at the beginning, where I had to form the new Admin team by utilising existing staff and the implementation of a centralised administration function.
The most enjoyable part of the job are my colleagues and the collaboration within the members of my team!

 The mental health workers are caring, hard working and compassionate people, but the higher management is awful. 

There is a lot of deception and manipulation under the executive team. Most workers are guilted into working two roles for the salary and working hours of one. At least every three months it seemed like a lot of staff were made redundant or forced out with barely any notice (particularly if you disagreed with the higher managements proposals). 

The management will also straight out lie to workers or withhold information until the last minute. There's a lot of buzzwords used to try and gain trust in workers and clients, but unfortunately there is little to no action from the management to actually make any beneficial and lasting changes

It's such a shame because ultimately it's the consumers who miss out on the help.  



My time working here was difficult and sad. The workers that engage with clients the most are great but sadly have to deal with the brunt of poor management decisions. All good staff eventually will move into their own small business as most of the money they make for the organisation disappears towards management.

Im not sure why the organisation boasts about having "values", never witnessed anything further from the values

disappointingly, communication between front line and managerial staff is minimal, and often deceptive and outright untrue

this organisation once had highly skilled frontline workers whose constructive input has been ignored by ignorant and self-serving management, consequently, there has been a mass exodus.

seriously poor treatment of clients and staff and a victim culture of blaming every misfortune on the advent of the NDIS, rather than examining the poor decisions and lack of skills and plain old planning in a stale and outmoded managerial team ill-equipped to cope with change.

Sad.

NDIS has ruined a great fellowship of caring people, who's ambition was to make the lives of those suffering mental illness easier in mainstream society.
Low wages, poor treatment of staff (particularly casual employees)
Expect to put in many hours of your own (unpaid) time with little recognition whilst management drive shiny company vehicles and hold endless unproductive meetings over company supplied lunch.
Constant changes in policies and staff, make it challenging in offering security and consistency to clients/consumers.

Simply put, the basis of this organisation appears to be solely money oriented without any care for consumers or staff. Both my experience and countless other employees I know would reflect a notion that management will happily make highly questionable decisions if it means making short term money. I'm honestly shocked the organisation is still around and hasn't undergone serious litigation against them. 

I enjoyed working at one door and made valuable skills. I felt like I was making a difference and improving peoples mental health. Unfortunately there was no real management structure and those above did not give me a fair go 

Team is micro managed
No empathy towards staff and team members 
No constructive approaches by management 
Bossing the team is the key 
No help ever received from top management. 
Just a money making business. 

Self serving, chaotic disrespectful, dishonest management. Clients and support staff are treated unjustly.....clients are not the priority of One Door management.
