Pleased that I applied to work here. My coworkers have been nothing but kind and understanding since day one even though I have made a few mistakes with food prep and taking orders. Very relaxed environment when it’s a slow day and have had compliments from customers about how happy and fun we all are. There is always someone singing, being goofy or having a laugh and that makes going to work that much better. 

Boss is incredible and very family orientated and understanding if you can’t make it to a shift due to things that arise when you’re a parent. The pay is decent and hours/ times you work are easy to negotiate. 

Everyone shares the workload so that nobody is ever stuck doing everything on their own, and if you are struggling there is always someone around to give you a hand. 

I am very happy that I joined the team and I can see myself being here a long time. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
New friendships gained  with other employees and the free coffee. Their coffee was the best!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being placed in other areas not rostered for cos I was the only one who knew how to do that job on the day  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful. Too many dramas. Not enough employees knew all aspects of the store and management was not approachable.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Overworked. Always run off my feet especially on a Friday night working the kitchen by myself and closing down the entire area by myself. No team work

Hierarchy management from the top expects staff in stores to be total slaves. If you work an 8 hour shift you will only get an unpaid 30 min meal break, if one at all due to limited staff on so don’t expect a full uninterrupted break and you will not be paid if you don’t get a break, and don’t even think that you will be getting your other mandatory paid 10 min rest break that one doesn’t even apply to Olivers. You will not be paid if you work over your rostered hours even if it’s unavoidable or asked by management. They are very brutal and very deceitful and you are just a number to them!

When You walk in for a work u do not know what work you going to perform. Poor communication puts you work all over places rather than prioritize of work. You end up working more for other department than ob your and work extra hours to cop up with your own work and not get paid for that. Safety level was absolutely poor, in some instance you have to risk your to save your work  and management is more about finding mistakes in departments or in employees rather than helping in finding solution.

Horrible place to work paid me and others illegally. Salary for interstate truck driver 8 hour pay working 12 hour days no overnight allowance no meal allowance. Made to work fatigued even when told to management (highly illegal) salary starts at 5 am me and others should of been paid double time from midnight till 5 am. If you are looking for a driving job stay well clear of this company. I would rather hand my licence in then turn another wheel for this company. Made to work every public holiday no extra pay

Worst place I've worked for, ever.
The younger staff were always great to be with but the managers control absolutely everything and expected me to do their work for them. I could be alone and have to clean the store, take orders, help with stocktake and many other things. I often had to work half an hour over close and was UNPAID. Disgusting, when I asked about it they said I'm just slow but truth is it's impossible to do alone.

Managers are bullies who always support each other but not the other staff. Not even allowed to have a glass of water in a moment of silence.

Overall I loved working at Oliver’s . The challenges when we had the Seasonal peak time. There were plenty of hours. Then they drop to half which makes it hard when renting. 
The job offer was deceiving as no fulltime or part time positions! 
Management was conflicting to what was expected then would be changed around ! 
I understand why there is such a high turn over of staff.

was with this company a bit over 12 months and have only just finished. staff kept getting shifts cuts without warning or explanation. management was practically invisible and head office kept putting pressure on the shop to run with less employees. really grim workplace atmosphere with many employees fearing that they are about to be out of work. shop often running out of stock. heard that the company wasnt paying suppliers on time.

The store manager is lazy, Management higher up are not any better. They don't look after their staff, get told everyone is replaceable! Your hours get changed so you don't go over your contracted hours and get penalty rates. I probably wouldn't eat there knowing the dates on products get changed to "extend" the life of the product. But all that comes back to the store manager, a different management team there would make the place better! 

This company taught me many things about hospitality and how working together to make a great day happen.  People here a very health conscious and are bright and bubbly.  I learned to make coffee and how to present food to the pleasing eye of the customers and the importance of health and safety in food preparation.  I was regularly challenged to learn new food items on the menu and how to prepare and cook them.
