What is the best part of working at the company?
Still working in the old ages. Need to move to digital MFD scanning. Too much paperwork which is a privacy issue. No HR dept. Made some great friends, those that have empathy and care for clients. But no accountability here. More worried about securing govt contracts. Also no support for staff with Training, sink or swim environment unless you have a good Manager. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of support. Paperwork. Ticking boxes. Leadership and lack of progression for staff 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not the best culture dependent on where you work and who your manager is. But if you habe good people around you, you thrive. Purpose of your role is to support our more vulnerable clientele into employment. Stay out of the company politics 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Focus on helping your clients in pathwaying them into sustainable employment

Working with clients has been super rewarding and I learnt something new from everyone I met. The wider team at Octec was great and I was able to reach out for support anytime. The clients had various goals and abilities. It was great working all over the Gold Coast and being part of the wider community 

This company has so many negatives it’s difficult to list them all. Constantly short staffed, Staff turn over is extremely high,  consultants are micro managed, there is a lack of training, no HR department, lack of proper office equipment and storage, outdated procedures and systems, goal posts that management constantly move, no opportunity for advancement. 


I would never recommend working for this company due to poor management and bully and harassment 

A typical day is working with clients to assist them gaining employment 

Hardest part of the job is dealing with the management and the high unachievable expectations they have and the intimidation and bullying that occurs within the business

Archaic processes in place. No morale. Upper management no DES experience. Revolving door. No one notices what you do. Frontline staff do it all including accounts. Consistently moving KPI goal posts every quarter, you can never achieve therefore never get any apparent bonuses (if they exist). Generally bad workplace start to end. 

I have been lucky to meet a lot of new  people and great staff members. I love my job and am please as I am learning new things every day. Always ask if I am stuck and get answers straight away. It is great when you have a great team to work within.

You will find joy in working on the frontline of the business, the clientele that you get to meet, learn more about and the journey that you embark upon with them to get them back into the workforce is incredible. Unfortunately, management is a major let down. 

very little training, expected to know everything right away the management felt asking for help was disruptive. other staff to flat out to help culture that everyone has to be under pressure all the time.

I was able to complete my certificate 3 in community services in 2018

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not knowing what the programs was about

Great work environment and like minded co workers, great career path for professional growth and development. This job role gives the opportunity to help people and make a difference in their lives.
