What is the best part of working at the company?
Adult students willing and able, actively participating in class discussions. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poorly managed with Management providing very little support to a new Lecturer. Sadly, they were quick to criticise. 
Getting the necessary information was like getting water from a dry well. 
Suggest a review of upper management and some Lecturers who were reluctant to show me the requirements, like TAFE policy. 


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Physical environment was good. The culture made it uncomfortable. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Teaching was rewarding. But the lack of proper management made it uncomfortable.

The adage 'too many chiefs and not enough Indians' would be appropriate in some ways although the 'chiefs' are in name only, their leadership is self-aggrandisement and their abilities doubtful. There is more movement in management than in teaching staff and administration has been slashed so that now managers are paid over $100,000 to answer simple phone enquiries/emails and attend to jobs that were done by admin staff who actually knew what they were doing for a third of the salaries. It is a terrible shame to see TAFE destroyed by imbeciles who smile from screen savers as they sink what was a wonderful institution.

While I worked here the college went through a restructure and changed how my department functioned and reported. Post restructure all support was to be funnelled through one full-timer who in my opinion did not meet requirements of many students I tutored and socialised with.
I did not have much connection with the culture as I was casual I came to work and immediately met students as I had appointment times scheduled.

Everyday is always a new day to learn different things that is useful for future. 
Experiments and handling different tools, machines is always fun. 
Great and easy to cope with lecturers

Having my mentor has aided me so much already, and she is just one more  I hope I’ve been able to help my mentee deal ‘I have gained confidence, become more independent and responsible. I have found it easy to get on with people. Mentoring has helped me in getting on with it and taking chances.’

Working at TAFE was easy. Admin work is easy.
Very little opportunity to develop. Some staff have a stick up their bum- i can deal with them. Most are lovely, like a little family.

the teaching done within north metropolitan tafe is very engaging, it helps the student reach their desired goals and more. the teachers are outstanding and know what they are doing, and when you have lecturers like that it makes the student more confident within themselves.

As a staff member  at North Metropolitan  Tafe ,there was ano endless opportunities  to develop  and further  advance  skills

I enjoyed learning from the staff. I like being able to learn in a real salon experienced. The teachers were helpful and useful to learn from. I learnt receptionist duties and therapist work, along with clean up and emergency procedures.

I enjoyed training at North Metropolitan Tafe, especially the opportunity to work in Pavilion Restaurant. Additionally, I found the training staff to be especially helpful.
