A typical day at work started with truck prestart check manifest and delivery dockets drive to butcher shops from the Gold Coast to Rockhampton delivering body beef, lambs, pigs and carton meat. Day time and night deliverys with keys. Unloading of truck in the yard washing of the truck and preloading for ather drivers.
I learnt about time and fatuige managment how to drive a forklift how to load a truck to a manifest.
Management was good however very demanding at times.
Co workers were a great bunch of blokes willing to lend a hand if needed.
Never starting the shift the same time every day and the 80 to 100kg pieces of body beef to be carried of the truck in the middle of the night by your self.
Job satistfaction and the challenge of delivering up to 18ton of meat to the customers with out any mistakes and the customer relations
and frendships built along the way.

Unfortunately this workplace could have so much potential if only the management realised that their employees are their best assets and should be treated as such. There is a culture where ‘sacred cows’ are worshipped and questioning conventional wisdom is definitely not encouraged. 

The plant is short staffed which results in less than optimal distribution of employees and quite often this leads to MANY workplace incidents. Work group and team leaders that have been there for many years stand around and conduct ‘horseplay’ whilst employees struggle in front of them. 

It is a shame as this could be the number one employment for this region but the reputation and attitude of the company precedes itself.

This is not your average meat works.  It is a lot harder then most but the team is very supportive.  The pay is not very good, u can earn the same as a supervisor there as a slicer makes at ACC.  it is a good place to start because you get to advance a lot there and learn everything unlike other meat works were u spend a life time on one job (teys bros).  the work is very hard but it prepares you for other meat works as everything just gets easier when u leave :).  Only bad thing is the paperwork u have to fill out once a month.  very long and the same questions over and over again.

I worked in the boning room and found the training to be very limited. There are not enough employees to even take smoko sometimes and because there is not enough staff you get left doing two or three jobs that you are not even trained properly in and are yelled at and belittled if you don’t do it quickly enough. The pay is not worth it for the negative affects of the job. The company is only out for themselves and you are just a number to them.

It was fun and and loud with everyone laughing and singing and shouting random stuff all the time. 

I enjoyed working there, although I need a job that I can progress in, and because of the hour rate for my age, and as I moved out and was paying for all my expenses, the pay wasn't enough.

Very volatile environment, every one seemed angry and treated new people appallingly , was verbally abused and sworn at by a team leader regularly, in front of everyone , no support from HR , always told you where going to be sacked , over all would not recommend to people for employment

Mentally and physically stress environment.
Doesn’t care when you get injured and get ridiculed after.
Management bullying culture.
Communication breakdown in the workplace.
Quantity/output is more concerned than product quality.

Great management and directors. Great work benefits and alot of multicultural people, good laughs and never a dull moment. Always something to do and have learned alot from this family owned business. 

A great place to work but it can be difficult due to it's nature, like working in a cold room for 8-12 hours a day, high paced, high stress and sometimes mean words are exchanged by some disgruntled people
