Early start at 7.am. We used to get until 7.10 am for an early cuppa. Just recently this was stopped. Very strict about being in uniform and on our floor at the stroke of 7 a.m. There have been so many changes over the years and not for the better. We have so many managers and we are always so short staffed. On a daily basis we have to cover our co-workers job if they go sick or take holidays. Sick leave plays a part in the short staffed problem. It is such an unpleasant place to work people don't want to turn up. There is too much emphasis on getting more and more qualifications that you are constantly stressed and worried about what you will be forced to do next. Hardest part of the job is turning up. The most enjoyable part is clocking out.

As a student ambassador of the University, i learned a lot as i am able to communicate perfectly with people from different counties and show them the beauty of our school department of Electrical and Electronic. There are 4 colleagues in total including me as we work in a team to lead the guest to have a tour in our school. The hardest part of the job is we need to attract the guest in order to like our school and to show them the skills and benefits we can give. I enjoy this job as it gives me chance to earn some extra income and to work in a team.

During the working period, I am responsible of assisting course leaders to arrange resources and maintain the punctuality of online slides.helping dissertation leader gather all the information that he need from student about their searches' directions.

I gained multitasking skills, communication skills , capability of organization  and obtain the leadership with my co-workers

Working as the secretary taught me to become very organised and in-tune with everything that was going on. I quickly learned that I could not afford to ever fall behind on things. I learned how to manage a team of peers in order to organise events, which could be challenging at times but also very rewarding.

Professional services felt a little unsteady, a lot of movement of people and a lot of staff on fixed term contracts. Management is ok, but it often feels like every decision has to go through several loops. On the plus side, the holiday entitlement is good and they are very accommodating and flexible.

After 2 years of working with in the role of building services I do feel it is just a job but a secure one.
Yes management can be p your back door from time to time but it is stable.
You can apply for many jobs around the campus provided you have the qualifications.

I have worked in two Schools at the university and both have been boring to say the least. No progression opportunities unless you actively look for a new job yourself. No atmosphere in the office. Would not recommend.

I had to organise events with both new and old members of the society.In addition, I needed to help the President of the society organise conservation tasks and also organise nighttime events.

I have only worked at Newcastle University for just over 6 months, but I have very much enjoyed my time here. They make me feel valued and there is scope for career advancement within.

Gained a PhD degree in civil engineering 

I have learned a lot in the university. very good research atmoshpere in my water group.
