My Beauty Spot

I worked from November to January. Application was easy and so was the interview. Working their was great and with great people. I got put in the deep end and had to do a lot of things myself without training, this included tilling off and counting and calculating the money, also had to do a closing shift by myself. February came and I could not see any shifts on the roster. I called the manager and she said I was a Christmas casual which meant I might not have ongoing employment. I understand this but I don’t remember being told this in the interview and it would have been beneficial and more professional to have given me more notice rather than me having to call myself to find out. Now I’m struggling to find a job and struggling to live. Thanks

I worked at MBS for almost a year and frequently had issues with upper management. We had no store manager over the entire period I worked there.
When I first started, I received no form of training and was left to teach my self everything from a folder I found on the computer left by the previous manager, and towards the Christmas period, myself and another new girl were left to train the Christmas casuals, as the entirety of the more experienced staff members had quit. We were left to our own devices running a store that really needed a manager, and when we made mistakes, we would be berated, even though we weren't qualified or had any proper training. Any time we'd have an issue with upper management,  whether that be pay related or other, our shifts would be cut. 
To be honest, the expectations of us were ridiculous considering that most of us were all 17-19. 
However, all of the girls that I worked with were lovely and I have fortunately made some really close friends.


Worked at MBS for 2 years +. A lot of issues with management.
- no guidance, but they expect store to be 110% 
- when you confront them about being underpaid shifts would be cut and you'd wait months for pay
- when people called in sick managment wouldn't sort a cover, you end up working busy full days by yourself
-because it's a kiosk you can't close doors for closing. You end up declining customers at 5.30/5.29 who want to try products and they get angry.
- No break room
- lots of conflict between workers 
- if you get along with who you are working with it's okay
- girls would be fired by simply not being put on the roster (no notice)
-easy money
- My response from management after quitting was 'tell us when you've returned your keys' 
- don't want/think they need feed back from workers  


The job itself was easy, it was just selling perfumes and colognes. They never hired any permanent staff or managers for the kiosks so all of the casuals were responsible for the day to day running of the store. 
There was no training, you were just thrown in to learn as you go. 

Management was near impossible to get a hold of when you needed them, emails would take forever to get a response and management was quite rude. 
We didn't have any KPI's that we tracked but if we didn't make enough sales or we took some time off they would stop giving you shifts for like a month, it's not surprising that there's very few of these stores left.

No training whatsoever. There is no manager or any sort of hierarchy- just a bunch of young girls trying to work together to figure things out. I hadn’t worked many shifts before being left on my own the whole day because someone called in sick. The operations manager (never even met, she only emailed me when I did something wrong) was rude, belittling, entitled and snarky. She expected me to know how to run the store with NO TRAINING. No opportunity for growth. Since this job, I have been in managerial positions in other retail companies and have not nor would ever treat my employees the way this operations manager had treated me. 

You are pretty much forced to do jobs above your pay grade such as working by yourself, ordering, invoicing, closing, opening, cashup, monthly cash up, and training new staff otherwise you wont get shifts
management dont care much
outdated software, stocktake is horrible
only good thing is working with the team, and they are very flexible with work times.
if you receive replies at all, it would be a minimum 5 day wait
you get your rosters the first day of the month, so no time 
there are no managers at the stores, you're team is forced to work together and make your own lists, and rosters, i dont know how a retail store can work properly without management...

-Gained extensive knowledge in the industry of fragrance and obtained a high level of face to face and over the phone customer service experience. (YOU ARE GIVEN NO TRAINING, DEPENDING WHICH STORE YOU WORK AT)

- POOR communication and management.

- VERY STRICT management

Overall, not my IDEAL place to work unless you are passionate about fragrance. Management isn't at its best. If you are a student of school or uni then this might be a suitable job for you.

Hardest thing about working here was
Managers, as they have no idea how to communicate\operate a store.
useless!!!!!!
roaster comes out every two weeks, but you wont get it till the day before hand. 
about 80% of the time i was underpaid.
They would refused to pay me for an additional 2 week. making it a long month to wait, even though it was there stuff up.
Complain that your pay is wrong/under and they cut your shifts.

I actually enjoyed working here — my role and the girls I worked with made it a pleasant experience. 
However, no matter how often I asked for extra shifts and usually covered for the other girls, I was often only rostered for one day a week. 
I don’t think it has anything to do with my work ethic — it was simply the higher management who didn’t bother, even if our store manager put in a good word for me.

It’s an alright place to work, if you get hired during Xmas trading be prepared to be confused as ever when it comes to doing simple tasks. Also changing each individual ticket of each perfume and sticking your hand in a tight cabinet can be a pain at times. Pay is generally good and they’re rlly flexible with availabilities
