Munro Footwear Group has its perks, half price staff discount, shoe bonuses and if you're lucky enough, working with a great team. However, the workload from hierarchy is too much. If the Store Manager and 2IC, are working together alone with no casuals, there is too much work load for 2 people with still having the expectations of making sales and daily/weekly budgets. Most days it's just a Manager and 2IC who have to manage the sale floor, back of house, weekly VM  which can be up to 20+ pages which usually require a whole flip of the entire store. VM needs to be a monthly rotation not every week especially with sizes of most stores. Daily deliveries which sometimes can be up to 30 boxes so not sure how this can be possible with 2 people most days. Stores need to have more access to casuals so these kind of work loads can be met appropriately. Area Managers are ok. Most of the time they actually help but sometimes, they just come in and tell you what to do without actually helping even just a little bit. Also, lunch breaks are only half an hour. This amount of time is not enough to sit down and properly eat or even get food from the food court. Most days, Managers and 2IC are still doing work through their lunch breaks.

No career progression. Area managers are happy to let staff (2ic) run the store without a manager but will not promote staff in the store to managerial positions. Staff are not recognised for going above and beyond or payed accordingly for taking up additional responsibilities. 

Area managers also will not listen to complaints about poor managers and instead are happier to lose staff then address the problems.

Casual staff are given short shifts, to make sure that they aren’t entitled to a break, but are always expected to be on call 24/7 and are punished for not taking shifts on short notice. Young staff (17-21) are preferred as causals, as they are cheap to pay and expendable. 

Company has an expectation that you treat customers like kings and will not support staff when it comes to issues with customers. What’s the point in having policies if staff are expected to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. 

HR completely ignores requests for exit interviews.

Bonus program is good but pay is poor.

the New location for the distribution centre is to large for what they are selling. highly incompetent management who have no qualifications to run a distribution centre are in power. goals and tasks don't seek out long-term benefits but only seek to increase false numbers. 

salary is low and payed as a retail worker when the workload is a distribution centre. a lot of corrupted moves done by upper management. upper management are under investigation following multiple complaints to HR over the years, still no action has been taken against the toxic environment. 

Plenty of talented dedicated staff in my time at MFG however there is no career progression opportunities, I had asked to progress further in my career at MFG multiple times but was continually knocked back. 
Pay is average they do have a good bonus program for staff. 
Expected to have no covers during shift and expected to close the store daily for lunch break and toilet breaks.
Not much opportunity for time off when the store runs on minimal staff it can be increasingly hard to organise a cover especially if it’s over the span of weeks. 
Family company but all they care about is the money.

Met the owners of the company who were very personable and lovely.

The working environment is very good and they do help you and teach you a lot of things but the company doesn't give enough hours to staff and they often cancel shifts. The roster is not stable as it is constantly changing. There isn't anything bad or hard about working here. All staff are lovely and knowledgeable.

Whilst with the company I was employed as Assistant manager and paid as such but was Managing yhe store on 4 of the 5 days I worked. This was because our Manager/ area manager, was running 2 stores and was never in store when I was present. I was made to be instore for up to 4 hrs without cover for a toilet break.

The company offers great perks on paper - free barista, half price shoes - however this is unfortunately a tactic used to rope you in. Toxic workplace, poor pay, with management doing very little, whilst leaving the brunt of the work to those at the bottom of the food chain.
