Mortgage Choice

I worked under the State Manager in a very friendly environment and met many lenders all across Australia. My job included reception duties, day to day diary management for my boss and interaction with many lenders , making sure they were all accredited with banks under the Mortgage Choice umbrella. Account skills were also necessary, travel arrangements and intermediate computer skills were also necessary. Coordinating functions, conferences, meetings and training days was an essential part of my job and helping the Marketing coordinator with the State based events was an enjoyable part of my job
My most favourite part of my job was working with my manager who is just the best boss to work for, he is very professional, understanding, easy to work with and lots of fun. All the staff at Mortgage Choice including State wide staff are very easy to work with and very accommodating, understanding and patient.

I bought my first Mortgage Choice franchise in 1998 and found their training to be comprehensive as well as ethical.
It took some time to develop a referral network, but after a year or so it became increasingly busy, mostly based on referrals from satisfied clients.
In 2003 I amalgamated my franchise with that of another franchisee, and we opened a retail finance outlet in a busy shopping district.

Mortgage Choice provided a choice of 25 lenders, and because the franchisee received the same commisssion regardless of the lender chosen, it provided genuine choice to the client. I sold the franchise at the end of 2007 because I no longer wished to work evenings and weekends.

Small office in the Northern Suburbs of Brisbane. Challenging demographic at times, especially within todays lending climate. Each application presents a challenge. Beautiful people - team and clients alike and our team works well together to ensure our clients are kept informed through every step of the process. Our support process to our clients and each other is 2nd to none.

Mortgage Choice takes the cream of the commission income while the franchisee takes on the risk. No room for growth, new ideas - it is their way or no way. Unrealistic KPIs, inexperienced management team, ineffective marketing strategies, inability to take on new ideas, suggestions or change. Distinct feeling of not being valued or listened to. 

In my time at Mortgage Choice I learned many skills necessary to work a desk job for almost any company. I am very appreciative that they took the time to teach me these important skills. I very much enjoyed my time there and would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for a productive work environment with friendly coworkers.

Every part of this role was absolutely amazing. Management were there to help you every step of the way,  once you showed that you knew what you were doing,   they'd leave you to do your thing.

Overall a great group of people with lots of treats for staff including monthly birthday cakes, special lunches, and monthly award with food.

Interviewing and processing loans of all types from commercial to rural loans and many construction and first home buyer loans.
Required extensive knowledge of over 23 lending institutions
some days slow other days were 15/16 hour days

Learnt a lot about the lending process in Australia and gained great skills from colleagues on how to deal with conflict and how to be persistent. Worked long hours but in the end it was worth the next role I gained due to this experience

I like Mortgage Choice, only to realise that type of job style was not for me .
My role was to meet and greet clients, enter data into the date base, answer phones.
I learn more about money and loans.
