Listen, onsite the supervisor's, work processes and rules are good.  Mono's does well in the field.
But after trying these guys three times, because I was told they were great to work for, I will never go back.
HR will push and complain if you can't meet their impossible deadlines. I was made to feel bad by the HR department many times.
They have no consideration of where you live, which is amazing for a FIFO organisation.
Talking of organisation; the quality of the emails, documentation, and planning were very poor.
And you only get less than 24 hours to sign your contract, otherwise they retract it.  Being electronic, if your not fast enough you can't even copy what they put in there.  Disappointing behaviour.
I have asked them after the last offer of employment, to never contact me again.  Sad, because as I said, in the field they were good to work for.

I have learned a fair bit over the last six years in the mining industry, Particularly Safety in the workplace and Helping your work mates with safety.. 

The hardest part about the job would have to be during the summer season with the temperatures the south Australian outback reaches, but with the safety the mine has you really look after yourself during those periods..

My co-workers are real fun to work with and they really want to learn about the mining industry, we help each other out and watch over each other during the job, it always helps to have fun guys to work with..

My most enjoyable part about the job is listening and watching fellow employees reach the goals they put out to set, you hear about them when they first start and to watch them work their way to reach that goal is enjoyable, whether it be doing good for their family at home or getting skilled at certain jobs within the industry

On this project the work crew is unmotivated and attempting to make the job last longer. An unhealthy attitude exists between locals and FIFO's. I have only taken on this position with the knowledge of one to two months employment, and like most am looking for what's next.

The camp facilities are more than reasonable, and the ability to get off the island and enjoy leisure activities during any spare time is a welcome release from the job site.

The job itself is a standard gas environment, with the usual restrictions on phones and ignition sources. The hardest part of the job is being expected to complete a task when limited tools are provided and you are not allowed to bring your own tools.

There is little or no pressure to complete tasks in an unreasonable timeframe, and the supervisors, leading hands and other employees are mostly relaxed and easy to get along with.

Pre-start meetings every morning, refocus meeting after 2nd break, any issues bring attention, issued jobs with iso drawings etc. Mgt very good, no problems, very helpful. All co-workers are different in their ways, I enjoy the challenges that await, Safe way is the only about all jobs you are issued. Team building and constant eye and verbal communications can be the hardest part of the job. Learning how to use hydraulic, tensioning and torque procedures is enjoyable when completed the right way and signed off. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting different people from all over the place. Social drink on your rostered day off with people you work with in and around different areas.      

My time at Olympic Dam was good I worked with many good tradesmen. I believe Monadelphous is a good company to work for anywhere outside of Roxby downs the only thing that lets it down in Roxby downs is the management structure this is felt throughout the company at a grass root level.
A typical day at work involves dealing with breakdowns stripping cladding & insulation on pipework, valves, tanks, boiler, heat exchangers fabricating in workshop installing insulation & cladding on site. The hardest part of the job was trying to convince management that if we do not do things properly the client will not tolerate sub standard work and training is very Important.
The most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with the client on a daily basis and getting good positive feedback from them

A typical day at work would start at 6:30am for Pre-Start and the job scope for the day ahead, after prestart we would go out to the work front sign on to the relevant paper work, fill out a take 5 risk assessment page, then start work.

as hope downs 4 was my first job in the construction industry i learnt a whole lot about the construction industry and also alot about rigging, operating ewps etc.

my co-workers were very helpful in teaching and giving me an understanding of the work carried out.

hardest part of the job was the frustration of not been able to complete work as we couldnt get access to work areas

most enjoyable part of the job was the learning and been able to meet and work with some great guys

Working for Monodelphous was a great experience,they flew me from Melbourne to Perth,and then to Barrow Island at there expense,also made certain that i had everything from PPE,to making sure i had the exact required certification that i needed,to be prepared to start work as soon as i landed on the Island.I experianced a great deal on Barrow Island,learning to work with all kinds of people,and also learned different skills to better myself in my job from other team mates,the hardest part of the job was climatising to the hot weather,as we were working in 40 plus degree heat,after a week i was pretty well adjusted,and was loving it.I did enjoy meeting new people of different cultures and from different lifestyles.

working with other trade assistants from different backgrounds under a subcontractor which lacks in management 
hardest part about the job is managing working relationships with the people you work with while being under constant threat of loosing your job which is typical in construction.
most enjoyable thing about the job is id have to say the income, health, facilties, and food on site, so can be balanced on both good and bad things while working away

Start day by organise pre-start, taskings and equipment requirements. Ensure HSE requirements are met. Inspect work fronts. Ensure team compliance and good attitude. Ascertain what is needed next. Attend meetings regarding delivery and goals. Do KPI's.  Ensure quality and sign off. Ensure team focus. Check no injuries or equipment damage. Escort team and boost morale for next shift. Submit crew time sheets. Lock up what is required. The hardest part of a job is contingency planning when sub-contract supply fails so that work flow still continues. The most enjoyable part of the job is the team bonding, interactions and the satisfaction of looking back at what you've achieved.

More emphasis was put on existing Monadelphous employees that were brought into this business unit on Monadelphous taking control. The management was more focused on money than learning what the business was all about with the consequence of business unit being run into the ground instead of reaching it's potential. I don't think this was indicative of Monadelphous as a whole it was just a case of putting the wrong manager and supervisor in the place of people who knew what they were doing.
