Michels Patisserie

In a typical day at work some of my various duties included:
•	Restaurant cleanliness and store presentation
•	Customer Service and register operation
•	Liaise with other team members and waste management
•	Answering the telephone
•	Cleanliness of shop and shop presentation
•	Stocking fridges, packaging and food counters
•	Food preparation 
•	Ensuring the safe handling procedures of hot and fresh foods

The hardest part of the job was usually when lunch rush hit, we would have a line of customers waiting to be served, while rushing around as quickly as possible trying to have food/coffee served up for customers sitting down too, maintaining cleanliness and satisfactory customer service constantly.
 
The best part of the job was having the ability to brighten a customers day just by engaging friendly conversation with them, or bringing them out their regular skim latte with no sugar and a chocolate chip muffin, while reading the paper. I had a lot of elderly locals come through, the majority of my customers were elderly person/s. Being complimented on my customer service was always nice and made me feel great, too, that I could make others happy.

The opening hours is 5:45 to 18:15.

Michel's Patisserie is a chain of bakery. The company is a franchise system that was founded in 1988 and is based in Australia. It has over 360 retail outlets in all Australian and New Zealand, Indonesia and China.We have our own Standard Operation Procedure of working and serving.

Our store is like a small united nations , I worked with Australian, Indian, Japanese and Chinese.We still keep in touch at present, just like a family .
(5)the hardest part of the job
Michel's is a bakery, customer could make their own cake online .However, the real cake would out of their expectation a little bit. Some part of customer would be upset , so we have to make them understand about process of baking , the chromatic aberration ...etc.And try our best to comfort their mood.

Communicate with people is the most joyful part of this job. As I mentioned before , I worked with a lot of exotic people ,Sydney is a international city as well, so I met different and interesting people all the time .

A typical day at work would be signing in as soon as I got there. After that, i would put the dishes in the dishwasher and clean up any abandoned tables in the sitting area. I would go about my normal routine, serving customers and cakes. About halfway through the day, i would sweep the floor and then follow through with mopping. Near the end of my shift, i would be trained how to make coffee, then do the stores list. I learned how to work very fast and productively, as well as the exact contents of every single cake we stocked by memory. I often worked both days on the weekend, and had 4-7 hour shifts. My co-workers were friendly and supportive. They also helped me adapt to the new work environment and trained me thoroughly. The hardest part of the job was remembering who ordered what, as we did not have a numbering system in the sitting area. We had to remember their faces and their order. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with customers, and overall working.

Shifts at work alternate between close and afternoon, so everyday was different. Usually a day would consist of coffee, cleaning and serving customers. Once in awhile there are complaints, however how to deal with these are properly well trained with Michel's. I learnt, that the customers always come first and they are always right regardless. It helped me to be patient and help me be more comfortable creating friendships with strangers. Management and Co-Workers are always helping each other out, even during breaks, and it is nice to see everyone pushing for sales as well. The hardest part would be, trying to eat everything all at once, because the food was delicious, and the most enjoyable, would definitely be the co-working friends I have made along the way.

Working at Michel's Patisserie had its perks but near the end of my experience at this cafe, I didn't feel my personal growth expanding. After all, I have been in hospitality for a long period of my working years so there is only so much to learn.
My co-workers were friendly but the language barrier caused issues in the workplace, especially with customers.
As previously stated, Michel's only recently built their cafe in the complex so i did learn how to use their coffee machine. 
I really enjoyed communicating with the customers and getting to know the other workers in the complex.

A typical day of work consisted of clearing tables, cleaning around the cafe, creating non-caffinated drinks, working the till and handling food, all while interacting with the public.

My boss taught me about responsibility and always putting your best foot forward. He highlighted the importance of treating customers with the highest regard, allowing me to better interact with them. My co-workers have taught me a lot about human interaction and creating relationships with vastly different people. Team work was key in getting the job done and I learnt about compromise and co-operation, allowing me to not only learn a lot about myself,  but others.

Working in Michel's Patisserie was fun, there were days that were busy and there was some days that were quite but, normally, the day turns out to be such an experience. When I was working there, I learned how to work in a team and communicate with the costumers. I also learned how to use a milk shaker, how to make coffee, how to use the appliances and some basic cleaning tips. The hardest part of the job was dealing with some costumers' personalities but I learned how to deal with them calmly and managed to work things out with them. The most enjoyable part of the job was everything, talking to costumers, making drinks such as milkshakes and coffees, washing the dishes and looking at the cakes displayed. It was interesting and fun!

I would recommend to all people to take a hospitality experience with Michel's as this is better than other cafes as I did some trial at Garden City and that was my worse experience ever! Please try your experience at Michel's before going to Garden City looking for a job first do it at Michel's Patisserie at Cornubia! I have learned a lot from their work experience! These pay rates are for trainees maybe it could be more for other than trainees as different pay rates Monday to Friday for trainee was $10.95 and Saturday was $12.00 and Sunday was $15.00

Management is very much about working together to deliver the best possible service. Fantastic mentors to the younger staff always focusing on positive reinforcement no matter what the situation. 

Most enjoyable part of the job is the people I work with and for. 

Hardest part is staying on top of things when it is really busy but being managed by great role models makes it more managable.

I learnt a lot of new things there. It was my first job I enjoyed working there. I learnt to make different types of salads, milk shakes, sandwiches and coffee. I also learnt how to deal with customers, to take care of till, cleaning bins, making food and serving them. I gained understanding of what should I do in morning and closing shifts. I also discovered that they food is healthy and made hygienically to prevent food contamination. It was nice to work there but I wanted to gain more experience at new places so I left that job.
