A typical day at Metro Petroleum invovled full customer interaction, and assisting customers with certain queries. The typical day was filled with activities ranging from stock replenishment, customer service, cash handling, record keeping and refilling the LPG bottles of customers. I brought an active and engaging attitude when I first started this job, learning eagerly from my manager in how to handle the day to day operations at a petrol station. Eventually, I adapted myself into the workplace and took most responsibilities myself. The role as an employee in Metro Petroleum truly helped me in handling more situations and prioritisation.

A typical shift runs from early morning (7:00 AM) to mid-afternoon, involving store upkeep, restocking shelves, maintaining the coffee station, and processing fuel transactions. The role requires handling both standard vehicle refuelling and higher-value truck transactions, which builds efficiency in cash handling and customer service under time pressure.



extremely long hours sometime around 19-20 per day staff were reasonable to advise but often did not turn up for shifts, hence my long work hours. Head management not concerned for staff or managements welfare and did not like to pay on the books, refused superannuation, holidays etc, failed to address WHS issues and safety, failed to make adequate repairs. Ethnic head management not understanding Australian work procedures rules and regulations.

Was everything. Always working on my own always being watched on cameras always working on my days off always not getting paid properly

Don't ask   was judgemental and not a good environment 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful and always under the pump from 5 am

For the first 12 months at Metro West Gosford i was thoroughly enjoying my job, great job, good money, great boss. Everything just worked well, until the new owners came in and changed the entire dynamic of how the business operated which made life impossible for most staff there.

Was a fast pace station with beautiful customers.  Enjoyable work colleges . In a station that big it needs 2 people on during  shift. Alot of work to cover but can be covered with out breaks. But a very enjoyable experience while being in company.

The profile and  workloads were normal, but the unstable management takeover and new staff intake causes great deal of work issues which reflects a lot more on the roster.

Absolute arrogant stand over Ethnic manager ,Under paid with no back up or breaks which is illegal . Don't ever work for these people in Ballina stressed me out I actually had a mental breakdown after a very stressful interview & in state of panic No wonder they can't keep staff. Very dishonest & misleading 

As I will be serving many customers in the shift, I feel happy to interact with them and some will share their ideas and views about life and all which I feel more interesting, so I will gain some knowledge from them as well. Best part of my job.

I learnt tile work customer service then hardest part was see how much petrol is left in the tanks I would restock the shelfs mop floors an organize the tile ready for the day I didn't like to check the petrol levels but over all I like my job
