This entry level position was the great start I was looking for into real estate, as a prospector it enabled me to learn one of the many skills and tasks real estate agents take on a daily basis. That being said, I learned many new skills in this industry i haven't been in before.

The culture was inviting and friendly, I didn't sense any (real) negativity while I worked there for 2 months.

Management was less than satisfactory. With the experienced owner of the business consistently busy (i reported to the owner) I was barely given any clear-cut incentive to do my job correctly at all times. I felt (as someone just out of school, no experience in the industry) like I was thrown into a deep dark hole, expected to climb out just fine. It was really stressful. After I got over that factor it became slightly more enjoyable in regards to myself, and my goals. It's a great position to better yourself based on recorded statistics as you can improve them. That part of the job is fulfilling.

The actual manager who wasn't in the building half the time rarely spoke to me. As a casual, I sent me home, by the manager, one afternoon half-way through my shift because there were no more calls for me to make at the time. She cancelled my shifts for the week and week after and told me she'd get back to me. And when I got back to her (because she didn't get to me) after two weeks, she again mentioned there wouldn't be work for another week. Same case again. This time two months. I've only been in the job for two months but I stand for the work I did and what I was able to do with what i had.

This was by far a disgusting and upsetting experience and caused a lot of problems (trying to pay rent and all, being dragged along for weeks with no job only to say there will be no work). They handled things poorly, and are obviously over-run with work. 

And to finish, the salary was pretty laughable. I mean, I was only getting 3x four hour shifts a week at just over $17.00 an hour. That's $11,000 a year. Not even remotely close to the first tax bracket. I would earn more working at Kmart and I feel this job required a lot more out of me than Kmart ever did.

Anyways, I didn't mention anything about my experience because I hate to burn my bridges. So i figured I would share my thoughts here. Was very unpleasant.

The moment I begun working there, the agents didn't give me a proper chance as I was new to the industry. This put immense stress on my role and would cause me to make a couple of mistakes here and there. 
Every time I would ask for proper training in which I never received, they would never get back to me. I would constantly ask for help and try get in contact with Management but they would never answer or get back to us. Most FOM'S had the same issue. When we would complain about a certain person who has no idea how to do her job, nothing would happen. Agents would expect their work to be prioritised over other agents which would put me in a compromising position, and when a task couldn't get finished... they would complain to management which would then write you up... funny management would take action when its against you...They launched a new CRM system and the day before it went live they threw 30 tasks at us that needed to be completed (they never helped us for this, nor did they show us the correct thing to do) and blamed us for mistakes. Would not recommend working here if you cant tolerate management being incompetent at their jobs.

Absolutely a first rate organisation with outstanding senior management. The Company culture is both productive and inclusive and McGrath provides excellent staff training. McGrath estate agents is ethical and demands the highest customer service standards from every employee. A typical work day is performance oriented and success driven. The McGrath way generates a great office energy producing a thriving work environment for individual success.
Rewards are high provided you can list property for sale. Being the greatest salesman in the world will not get you there, you must find a way to locate intending real estate Vendor's and to sign them up on exclusive selling terms.

I was hired for a particular position and they changed my location (extremely far from my house) and added an additional two roles. So all up I was taking on three roles with minimum wage and no support.

Management was appalling, I went to the sales manager to make him aware of bullying that I was experiencing to be told that I was acting like I was in High School for bringing this to his attention. After he quit, they had no sales manager for our location instead we had three different sales managers who barely made contact and rarely answered phones leaving me to run their office for them and still not being supported by the company.

This was my first role in real estate and the management team only wishes to benefit themselves. There is absolutely no training and more a learn as you go and hope for the best. Received inconsistent information which was getting me in trouble with even the manager backtracking. The property managers are lazy and don’t know their own properties... nor do they care. Leasing team is expected to do all the heavy lifting with little incentive. Very poor work culture. People are fake and only kind / thankful when it benefits them. 

McGrath had an excellent office culture and rewarded yearly.
The people were fantastic and it was a massive learning experience for me as far as learning new systems and applying operational skills and managing the team of administrators.  
Management staff were always supporting, understanding and willing to assist. They believed in personal growth as well as professional growth and whilst I was in the role I had completed my diploma of Human Resources, where the COO was always understanding and supported my training and growth.

Part-time hours on a casual rate.  20 per week over a one year contract period.  I assistaned the residential sales team with lead generation, and appointments for appraisal meetings.  

The role was phone based autonomous and required direct contact with sales agents.  Extreme levels of confidentiality and discretion were required due to the competitive nature and territory boundaries associated with the real estate industry.

Started in leasing, eventually had to work for hours at home just to keep up with all the work that needed doing.

Spoke to a few other property managers... they would have to work too far after dark as the company would pile on other peoples work after they quit... best part is they don't get paid extra, it's just expected that you do extra work for free.
