I have been working as a cleaner of Hotel Rooms and Public Areas 4 and 5 Star Hotels and Resorts for many years. I have had extensive training and gained knowledge and practical experience in cleaning public areas including swimming pools, gymnasiums and restaurants. I have a good knowledge of the related safety and health issues using chemicals and food safety. 

In my current job I have the added responsibilities of ensuring that the linen and other room provisions are stored correctly and then delivered to the house guests’ rooms as scheduled.

I am also required to check the quality of the service provided to the rooms and to provide remedial responses. I have a keen eye for details and processes.

I take pride in my personal presentation and the presentation of the work environment and am always keen to meet the time requirements of the required work. I have been awarded as best employee by my employer many times.  

My current work is very physical all day and keeps me busy; as a result my general health and my physical fitness are good.

A typical day at work is fast and no time to rest. What I learnt was to hurry up and no matter how its done or how poorly. The supervisors somewhat fair although Management was poor and ill treated staff. The co-workers excellent great people just immature people in charge of the cleaners. I learnt to keep my head down do my work what was expected and go home. Hardly had any social life. This is a very demanding job. No rewards for the cleaning staff and recognition.      No job advancements provided or encouraged. The hardest part was asking for days off and from not going insane by the ill treatment of staff. My feet hurt everyday. Sometime even had to buy our own cleaning products. Since the house keeping budget was limited. Although the most enjoyable part was lunch time and going home or seeing a hot guest or a celebrity and my friendly cleaning co-workers.  Overall I'm happy I got out of this hotel cleaning industry at Mantra Hotel South bank. I survived.

My Typical day would be mainly on the front desk helping the receptionists check in and out guests when busy.I also helped in the restaurant on breakfast and room service when busy.I would be first in command when the general manager was off duty so i handled all complaints and maintenance issues.I managed a team of two receptionists on duty, the kicthen department and restaurant front of house department.I got on very well with all my co workers as we worked well as a team.The hardest part i found was to delegate tasks to other people as i found i would try and do alot myself by multitasking.The most enjoyable part of my job was hearing good feedback from guests not only about myself but about my co workers aswell. This showed we were doing our job well we also got incentives for doing this.

A typical day at work at Mantra Group was fast-paced and involved handling guest enquiries, supporting front desk operations, and ensuring smooth check-ins and check-outs. I learned strong customer service, communication, and time management skills, especially when dealing with multiple tasks at once. Management was generally supportive, although the pace of work could be demanding during peak periods. The workplace culture was collaborative and team-focused, with staff working together to meet customer needs. The hardest part of the job was managing busy periods and handling difficult guest situations while staying professional. The most enjoyable part was interacting with guests, solving problems, and working with a supportive team environment.

I Had worked and enjoyed this very busy hotel. Spend lot of time replacing managers where it gave the opportunity to learn so many new skills. I was in charge of all department of Food and Beverage Restaurant, Bar, Room service, Minibar and also Conferencing and events. 
I participated in budget meeting while i was in charge of the payroll, stock take, stock control, costs, suppliers meeting and so.
Manage a team of 20 to 25 people/In charge of big events as wedding and business event.
The hardest part was to manage payroll when there was not much money given from management. it did make me work a lot of extra hours plus weekends.
The most enjoyable part of the job was to make my team and my customers happy.

I worked with mantra group for over 2 years, but after transferring to mantra terrace I quickly left. Housekeeping staff are expected to work 8+ hour days without getting a break. This appears to happen at mantra on Edward as well. The management would then ask you to lie on your pay sheet or they would alter it without your permission to include a fake lunch break (because it is ILLEGAL to make people work 8 hours without a break and they’re aware of this)
The cleaning standard is absolutely horrendous and I made management aware of all of these issues on my departure. They chose not to reply to me in any way.

Not a good work place.

A great work environment, the staff are amazing, warm & friendly people. Unfortunately Management is not. Managers spend so much time in meetings or chatting that they don't have the time to look after their staff. There is no support structure, no consistency with training or updates. Staff often work over and above their duties with no recognition or even a thank you. Blame is quickly passed on but nothing is done to rectify it. 
They do have regular food days where the bosses will provide pizza or finger food for staff. They have fun games for special occasions or when promoting a sale.

I absolutely loved working for the Mantra Group. A workplace that was so dedicated to helping staff reach their full potential, an extremely positive and very friendly work experience. 
I worked as a Food and Beverage Team Leader in a Permanent Part Time role, high dedication to provide quality service to our customers and hotel guests, guiding and helping other team members to reach their full potential. Supervising staff and reporting back to the Restaurant Manager.
I loved everything about this job, it pushed me further and gave me challenges at times - but I loved that. I adored all of the staff, our regular customers and also having the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. I loved it so much!

I worked for mantra for three months and was provided with only one work shirt and only one pair of work shorts, not to mention no safety boots. When I initially started I was told that I would have a Bunnings card so that I could access materials, three months later no card in sight. I was fully expected and held accountable to uphold Mantra's manintence standard during the course of my employment. I was also expected to float between three mantra properties with three different start and finish times, not to mention using my own vehicle and mobile phone without any compensation. In the end, I lost all love for the job. There's only so much that paper clips and superglue can do, if you no what I mean.

Dealing with people from all over the world, getting an understanding of how to deal with people from other countrys. finding ways to communcate with people of different cultures and languages. To stay customer focused, customers should always come first. The hardest thing about hospitality work would have the unreliable hours im looking for something that is five days a week with permanent hours that dont change, something to get used to. Hospitality is good in a way where it can all start somewhere and then open your door to the world, nationaly recognized you just had to start somewhere. I am looking for something new at an entry level and to work my way up.
