Mackay Base Hospital

i was just a student nurse at Mackay Base Hospital so I have limitations with regards to work also with supervision. I was able to refreshed my skills in there since I am scrubbing and scouting as well as recovering patients and have rotated as anaesthesia nurse. Most of the staff were supportive and they lets me function independently if possible.

Toxic work culture full of poorly educated backstabbers
 I couldn’t wait to leave this hospital it was the most awful place to work and the only reason I went there was because of my husbands job 
 anybody who’s got any sense should steer clear of this place
Especially if you are from a ethnic minority as I had the most awful racist comments coming from many other staff

Cliquey work culture and toxic. Management out of touch with real issues. Busy hospital, fast paced. Short of staff almost every shift. QLD health benefits are very good. 

This work environment works very closely to the local community.  You see a lot of real life and death situations. A great job for a happy person who likes to talk. You learn to appreciate life in this role. Making the garden look great helps with patients healing.

Below average wage but enjoyable and sometimes very challenging work.

Left due to personal reasons (impact on my own mental health)

learning the use of new computer programs. small team environment which had large impact on business. great team atmosphere and well managed. dealing with difficult clients but nothing unmanageable.

was able to work across a wide field from food prep and cooking to deliveringof meals to patients
I also was responsible for stocking of the kitchen stores

I really enjoyed working as a theatre assistant/ wards person. If circumstances with my health were different I would definitely still be there. It was a really great place to work

changeable environment
overtime availability 
shift patterns can be discussed and management adaptable

Work environment is good. But not a busy centre where news skills can be explored
