Luna Park

I think Luna Park is a good temporary job but not something to do long-term. The magic spell of Luna Park wears down after time, which is why when you talk to the older staff they have plenty of tea to spill, but as a newbie those things are not noticeable. 

Procedures and Dresscode 
There is a lot of procedures to follow like not having your phone on you in the park or walking with it in your hand back of house. There's a strict dresscode on what you can and cannot wear but they have certain items you can buy that will keep you warm. You'll also have to "share" uniforms with the rest of the park, since you return them at the end of each shift and then they're washed. 

Staff culture 
There is definitely a good culture at Luna Park, but you need to be outgoing and extroverted to easily fit in. There is a bit of a gap between the ground people and the higher up's, where the higher up's are continually demanding things that are impossible (like wanting a full ride when there's no people in line). There is certain rewards and achievements you can earn, but it's rigged and giving awards to the higher up's feels a bit masturbatory. 

Guest interactions 
When the guests visit Luna Park, they're not getting their money's  worth when it comes to the rides. The passes are expensive and the rides are meh. Luna Park thinks you should make up for that gap by providing a super good service. So be prepared that some of the guests are going to be disappointed (rightfully so) and sometimes mad when their kids are denied entry, the lines are long or literally anything doesn't go exactly to schedule. Parents are also going to be telling you to ignore safety instructions and height restrictions "just once" for their kids, so if you easily crumble during peer pressure, this isn't for you.

A day working at Luna Park would typically entail the operation of various rides - alternating on an hourly basis - while simultaneously enforcing onsite safety and handling customer service. A significant amount of training is given to new operators in order to learn the many strict procedures and protocols that exist per ride. Supervisors and management are generally vigilant and readily available, thereby providing an extra safety net of self-assurance should the operator be under a rare instance of uncertainty.

Naturally, the hardest part of this role would be involved with its customer servicing aspect. Although rare, there will be instances of interaction with the more unpleasant or abusive portions of the general public. However, it is important to also remember the more pleasant and commending members of society, for they may provide the most enjoyable parts of the job.

A typical day at work is always different from the one before, there are always new questions to answer, different customers to serve and handle. I've learnt how to handle extremely difficult customers to the best of my ability in a calm manner. The workplace culture is amazing, my colleges have become my second family, we always enjoy working together which makes work far more enjoyable for us and the customers seeing us all interact. The hardest part of the job is having to handle customers on an extremely busy day when somedays you have 40 people at one time wanting to play your game/buy something jumping the lines and waving money in your face, all while still keeping a calm composure and a smile on your face. The most enjoyable part is always when you make a child's day by doing something special and they will remember it for a long time.

Great place to work, right beneath Sydney harbour bridge. Worked outdoors during the Australian summer holiday. Made great friends, all staff worked with were fun sociable and easygoing which made shifts feel quick. Benefits were that the shifts were mostly during the day so had time for myself either side of work and on weekends when i worked nights the park lit up and it was a beautiful sight right in the harbour. All round a very memorable and worthwhile experience.

A typical day could involve a sit down formal dinner, a cocktail party, a conference or a set up shift.
One of the most important lessons I have learnt whilst working at Luna Park is how to balance work and friendship within the workplace. I find my co-workers amazing to work with and enjoy helping them when they need it.
The hardest part of my job would be balancing my work and life appropriately as well as studying for my future.
I love getting to work and presenting customers with excellent customer service, helping others, and getting to know the new staff members and making (hopefully) lasting connections.

Working at the iconic Luna Park was rewarding, especially towards your social life. Making friends for life while being able work your way up in the company.

The only downside of this job is the minimum wage. For what employees do for the company(ride operatiors) from full training of rides, public safety, strict guidelines, customer service and all park cleaning, minimum wage shouldn't even be on the table for what these guys deal with everyday.

I worked as Bob Squad, which meant I did a little bit of everything; Guest Service, Food and Beverage, and Rides. The training was very easy to learn, the people I work with are very great, and the atmosphere was always magical. Working with some guests can be troublesome, but thats the case with most Guest Service experiences.

Its not an boring job, where you tired looking at the same desk . Yes it is creative , fun loving and colourful environment at work. Co workers are more like friends and management is more like teachers. Learnt  everyday new thing at work.

Working at Luna Park could be very enjoyable. Catering for the events there had great perks, with happy customers having a good time whilst also getting paid a decent wage. However, this was only a short-term job to have an income whilst I was living and travelling in Australia.

I enjoy the job, people are nice the management are fair with shift allocation, Ticket sales team are provided with air conditioning in the ticket booth and the staff quarters are plesant but could be roomier and more equipped with personal lockers. The job is easy to pick up!
