My typical day to day duties include Driving the twin axle tipper dumping of loads of profile material and also driving the twin axle hot mix flocon. I also do a lot of labouring work from day to day and don't mind getting in and putting some hard effort in to get tasks done.

 I have learnt a number of skills since starting with council in 2007 starting from using hand tools and general labouring duties. To driving and operating Trucks and machinery and filling in on leading hand duties when needed and I think with the responsibility that bring it has helped me mature as a adult. 

The management at council do a good job to make sure jobs are done to the highest standards and delivers on time and in a safe manner.


My co workers are good honest people and are easy to get a long with and everyone puts in a lot of effort and works well in a team environment. To make sure all work is completed at the highest standard and everyone is always safe.

The hardest part of my job would be the time when we are standing  around waiting around for trucks to deliver loads and or downtime between jobs. I am a active person that like being constructive at all times this is one of the reasons I am leaving council because I don't enjoy standing around for long periods of time not working it makes the day go twice as long.


The most enjoyable part of my job would be the good work atmosphere and nice honest people and workplace they offer.
Along with being able to help the community to be cleaner and more safe.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly colleagues and many career opportunities internally.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I think the most stressful part is overthinking the workload. Yes, there are KPIs but I’ve found that it’s always good to ask for help.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Council is people focused/people first, that’s its attitude towards their employees and their customers. They listen to their employees about what their expectations/ideas for improvement are from Council and integrate that feedback into everyday services.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day for me is going into work, doing my job and getting along with my colleagues. Throughout the day we have our Team Leaders (from other teams as well) come around for help and to check in and say hello.

Receive a customer request to be investigated that a swimming pool fence may be unsafe.

This involved researching the subject property as well as the building approvals that were issued for this property.

The Department I worked for had a dynamic and cohesive team across ALL areas of compliance and Local Laws.

The most difficult task was to investigate and report on child drownings and immersions. 

The most rewarding part of the job was achieving compliance and once compliance had been met, the belief that the risk of an incident occurring has been minimised.

It is a great environment to learn on the job and have accredited courses provided by the Council.

It is difficult to become 'councilised' once you have worked for the private sector. However; possible if you are willing to listen and learn and follow the procedures and processes provided to you. This is the one thing that I noticed others would struggle with.

The staff and environment make it a good place to work. The social clubs and fundraising events also make it alot of fun.

Logan City Council are great to work for as they have the best work/life balance. They also give good benefits/salary according to the award wage. All the jobs are secure and you can go up a level depending on the job. The management is great, they cover every year professional development of the previous 12 months being in that role. The job culture is great as everyone gets along with each other. At lunch a few friends and I would play Ping Pong at lunch.

Been there 10 years,  Pay rate is excellent amount of hours offered not great.  No permanent staff makes employees leave.  Love the team building love all the community that you get to meet and train while working for Logan City Council.  Great if you have kids well balanced job for bringing up a family Logan City Council allow you to work around your family.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 months position with Logan Metro and hope to find a similar position. The Management and staff were wonderful to work with. Would recommend.

Definitely a good, simple and easy job for the pay. Inbound calls are all pretty simple to solve & customers are local which was great . Lots of team building exercises planned so great to interact and build with other employees . Company was also very flexible whilst I was pregnant and gave lots of time for me to leave early when feeling unwell/ had appointments.

Logan City Council have excellent procedures in place which they are continually improving. In this role I am providing advise on the contracts and tendering process. It is very much a team environment with everyone working to a common goal. The doors are always open from management regardless of how busy they are. My co-workers are always courteous and helpful.
