Lipa Pharmaceuticals

started as a brand new machine operator in brand new Softgel plant. I was appointed there before the plant set and started. I accepted whatever I had to work, even the cleaning job. fitting small parts. organising stores and parts, as machine were yet to assembled. I witnessed all machine assembly. Sometime liaising with imported Italian engineers :). I set the office ordered the stationery. Made documentation and forms for different procedures. within 3 months I was promoted to Quality Control officer. Within prior three months I learned completely how to assemble and run softgel machine. It helped me for Quality Control work. Then I was assigned a job to set a brand new lab for physical testing and write SOPs. There I made my own system in spreadsheets for data recording and compiling.
I gave idea to the Managers for sample display and he agreed. with the help of fitter I made a sample display. and made a system  to keep sample data up-to-date. I gave Ideas for amendment in 3 machine to reduce the wastage and for house keeping. fitters supported me. It was successful and we could save 4.5% of good products. I use to give training on machine operation and SOPs.
I was proud to be the first employee and shake hand with Honourable Mr Tony Abbot, that time Health Minister. I worked In Lipa with the people of different cultural and ethnic and educational background. We formed Bush walking and Camping group there. Even I quit working there, I am still in touch with the employees. Makes me feel special.
I think I learnt a lot there. Can't say everything in small space.

Do not work there unless you have no other option.

Its one the most terrible companies, i have worked in so many pharmaceuticals companies around the world, India, Middle east, Africa, but LIPA is worst, worst in Quality, management, and culture. i couldn't imagine that Australia have such an "accredited" lab, if i am a government inspector, i would close the company. 

The employees culture are so strange,turnover. very poor management, a managers that the only thing they are doing is to pushing people to come early and leave late,without paying them any overtime, not a 10 or 15 minutes, they ask for hours of Unpaid overtime time.
And they don't care about the productivity and the efficiency, they care about how many extra hours you worked, i know employees spend their day on facebook, bathroom, and carpark.

Each room has it least 2 cameras, you feel exactly like a prisoner.

First when you started, your character starts to change, you will lose your smile, and your personality .

As i said, don't put your step in there unless you have no other option

Coming from outside the industry, the challenge for me was in learning about raw materials, quality, regulatory, formulations and this is a continual learning experience! 
I have to say it didn't come naturally to me and there was little support in the beginning. Since the change in management in 2020 I have been very fortunate  to have the business support my learning journey in a more formal setting. 
They have also identified my strengths and have adjusted my role within the business to play to my strengths.
The business as a whole has done a lot of work on the culture. It's so much more inclusive than it was, the teams are more unified now. 

I worked at LIPA for 6 years, the team members were great however the management and work culture is awful. Management like to intimidate and bully and every small team issues are immediately escalated to upper level management because supervisors/ team leaders are so scared to take any action on their own to solve the issue or simply can’t be bothered and want to shift the blame. Extremely high staff turnover which I think can be directly linked to the way management treat the staff not the difficulty of the work. I wish I had more positive things to say about my experience at LIPA but unfortunately that is not the case.


Any other place is better than Lipa. Full of Indian monopoly and hyper dominant  Indian culture. Higher managment is deaf and blind to hear and see the problems of their workers no help no support to hard we working and committed workers . It is definitely most MISERABLE place to work. As majority of current and former employees state , go there only if have no other current options otherwise run away as soon as possible. A company that makes you unhappy and miserable from day one. To the nenahment this are not personal opinions avwaste majority of your employees share the same opinion and it is tragic for you.

In my life, I never worked in such a place.
Feel pity on those who are still working there.
CCTV monitored the environment where most of the people forgot even to smile at each other.
Micro management and staff turnover are more. The most bizarre thing is that the supervisors forget the staff names because people come and quit in a day or two without informing them.
When I started there, most of them asked if if I was so desperate for money that I chose to work in Lipa.
Give time for the employees to breathe, smile, and socialise, and then Lipa can be a workable place.



I started at Lipa when the company had a change in senior management and have since seen the working environment and culture shift towards one that is very supportive and open-minded. 
My direct manager and the team made every day enjoyable but also challenged me to grow professionally at work and provided me with support to develop my skills and knowledge. Lipa is a great place for new graduates entering the workplace.

There are pros and cons.
The dynamic environment helps you grow  and challenge yourself in ways never thought. It will allow you to think outside the box and realise your new potential.
However the m dynamic environment has been known to cause alot of friction between people and departments. 
Management are aware of the complexities but choose to undermine and challenge. A lot of overtime is done to ensure everything is completed but met with no remuneration.

Some very skilled, knowledgeable and experience people in the company. Unfortunately these people are slowly leaving due to unacceptable method of dealing with employees.

Also there is no job security.

Normal day for me starts with preventative checks for all engineering services (HVAC, Boilers, Compressors, Trade Waste etc.). Then all Maintenance Planning activities on MEX and discussing maintenance activities with maintenance fitters. Making required designs for various engineering projects.
