Although hired staff are payed a small amount the sense of community I had at Lentils was incredible. Everyone I have met there was incredibly supportive, including the staff, volunteers and management. I was given almost complete freedom over my work schedule because there is always a friendly coworker who will be willing to take the shift when life gets in the way. They pay the staff as much as they are able to with the pay as you feel system they have set up, this allows customers who could otherwise not afford a hot meal to have one, which leads to an interesting array of happy regulars. I felt good about myself working here and was treated as if I were family. 

open shop up then clean floors , set up tables then wra[p the knives and forks.Then when customers came in offered them juice coffee until kitchen opened. then went and took orders placed in kitchen then took orders out when ready if we had nothing to do we wiped down tables filled up water jugs did dishes always something to do even if it was talking to customers after meal to see what they touhgt of food.

Due to lentil as anything being donation only pay is under award rate so work has to be subsidies with welfare or second job besides income being a issue regular shifts providing you are reliable good learning curve for someone first starting out fast paced of course but overall good work inviroment

Has no management structure and treats it's volunteers and staff badly. Don't be fooled by the feel good pitch and doing good for the needy. They use and abuse people. I left after 9 months in middle management. I felt so ashamed I don't even put it on my resume. AVOID

The place there are multi cultural, there isn't any discriminating around there, most customer are regular and very respectful to the stuff. The management is relax and can be a bit tense. overall is a place that show its own uniqueness as well a place that can help individual develop.

This is pretty much a non for profit organisation so please go eat there. It works by you pay what you can which helps a lot of those in need but in order to keep up with food costs they need more people to spend more money there. Locations are already closing down so please go support

Lentil as anything is rewarding and fun, in an environment with inspiring leaders around you. It is purely volunteer work, so you won't get paid, but it is incredible volunteer work at that. Built strong friendships and learned about a restaurant environment.
