Lenards Chicken

A typical day at work would start off with us preparing the food in the cabinet and refilling any products that were low on quantity. We would then go on to make products that were the most popular and the stock would deplete faster than others. All doing this whilst serving customers and cleaning up our areas and doing the dishes when they needed to be done. I learned how to communicate with customers effectively and also how to work the cash register and work in a fast paced environment. Lenard's is a small store but because of the location I was in there was usually a lot of customers and things had to run smoothly in order to get all the work we had planned for the day done. I also learned how to manage my time efficiently as I was given jobs each day by the manager. I would finish the jobs I was given and then focus on customers and the up-selling of products and how to make everyone else's life in the store easier. My co-workers were very friendly and nice people to work with and we would always share the workload to get things done as fast as possible. The faster we finished our jobs the faster we could get to doing the easier tasks such as talking to the customers to make more sales and also so we could get to cleaning the store and keeping it clean and tidy. The hardest part of the job for me was giving co-workers instructions when they were doing something wrong, however I would always find a nice way to approach the situation. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was when I would be communicating with customers and helping them decide what they wanted to get from our store, I also enjoyed when the environment was fast-paced so that we could get everything done as quickly as possible but to a quality standard so that we were not selling any products that were below par.

A typical day at Lenard's starts off with the opening of the store and laying out of products in the display window, followed by setting out the cash into the till. 

Throughout the day we are to maintain the stores cleanliness, restock products as they become low, serve customers, cook samples to be handed out to increase customer count, refill the back fridge with new stock and label appropriately.

Come time for close, all stock must be removed from the display window and labelled before being returned to the main fridge. We are then to clean out the display cabinet inside and out. The till is then reconciled to separate the profit from the till float. Followed by the computer print outs to attach to the required paper work. The profit is then written up onto a bank slip and then placed into the bank slip to be placed into the safe. 

Whilst working there I learnt about the procedures involved when working with raw meats, the safe temperatures, how long they can be kept until they must be thrown out, freezer times, cash handling skills, working with employee KPIs/ units per sale.
 
I don't believe that there was a difficult part to the job, some days may have been challenging when it came to trying to reach the stores target profit for the day and to keep our units per sale above 2 per customer. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is cooking and handing out the samples to customers passing the store. To be able to stop a potential customer and intrigue them with our current specials/deals as I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the customers.

In conclusion I found the job to well managed, challenging and no day was the same.

A typical day at work was opening up the shop setting everything up in the window as well to our ability as possible and starting on making more of what needed to be filled in the window

What I learnt at Lenard's chicken was pretty much everything I know now for example handling customer complaints, handling customers with food allergies such as gluten free, crumbed products etc.
I also learnt how to correctly open and close the shop and also counting the til.

The management at Lenard's was absolutely spot on they were always willing to help were so kind and generous and reliable.

The co workers were also amazing to work with we were classed as a family because everyone got along and all had a bubbly attitude to work

The hardest part of the job would had to have been for me at the time doing stock orders but once I learnt it became very easy 

The most enjoyable part of working at Lenard's was all of what came with the job it was the best job experience I have had to this day

Everyday would start with warm welcomes from all the staff who were already working, usually the product-making staff if I started early. Then a run down on sales targets for the week, stocktake and any pros/cons from the previous week. It was really easy to build up a repertoire with repeat customers. It took time and effort to build an active memory on the main ingredients and allergens in all the products, and how to make them, but it gave self-satisfaction to be able immediately answer customers questions. Clean-up at the end of the night wasn't the most enjoyable but you get used to the routine eventually and everyone would work together and separately in certain areas. The managers were always approachable and ready to lend a hand if needed. The boss would always ask every worker how the were with sincerity. Over all the experience was very positive.

A typical day of work at Lenards Poultry would include clean the crates and dishes and then coming out the the front of the shop to help with retail and sales. I learned a great deal about dealing with customers and how to manage my time efficiently. My manager was the best boss I have ever had. He supportive with everything and always helped me out when I needed it. The hardest part of my job was to keep calm and stay focused on working efficiently and quickly during periods of high stress. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to put on music and working together right at the end of every shift in the evening to finish final clean ups.

A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK: some time it was busy some times its not when making produce there is so much to do so time goes fast same with customer service. a busy day was a good day
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED: iv lernt alot at Lenard such as temperatures with chicken, how to make produce with chicken, cleaning, how to work with unhappy customer, gluten free chicken, free range meaning.
MANAGEMENT: i was happy with the management everyone got along and everyone had turns of making produce or serving out the front
CO WORKER: i was happy with the people i worked with everyone got along.
THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB: that would have to be working wit un happy customers.
MOST ENJOYABLE: making produce

-My typical day at work was always putting on a big smile for the customers whilst serving them. When it wasn't too busy I would go through to the back and clean up bit to help out with what I can - doing things such as cleaning dishes, sweeping floors, wiping benches etc..
-The management at Lenards Chicken to me was incredible! I was taught everything I know about working in Lenards by the young and lovely manager at the time. She would always be so kind and understanding.
-The most enjoyable part of the job for me was always serving the customers, greeting them with a smile and helping them get what they want.

A typical day at work would be described as quiet, fast moving and easy to get things done. What I learned while working here would be everything I know about customer service, making products, and generally working as a chicken butcher. The management were friendly, strict when necessary, but lacked in a few areas, for example sometimes they were too relaxed. About 90% of my co-workers I could get along with easily, because they were mostly friendly and easy to work with. The hardest part of my job would be opening alone as I was just a trainee at the time. The most enjoyable part of my job would be the people I worked with.

Never again will I work for a company like Lenards.
Unfortunately due to franchise owners being unprofessional and lying about Superannuation and Taxation Certificates not received.
No wonder why they aren't around much anymore. Would need to check your payslips and call your Superannuation fund regularly to ensure they are putting in what they are supposed to.
Be very sceptical about what franchises say they do. 

We always do stocktakes,  yes we are a reputable company,  we balance the till every day, we pay your wages on time every week and we pay your Superannuation quarterly.

Lenards was always a fast pace working environment but I never made it through the day without a smile. I love pleasing customers and satisfying their needs when possible. Lenards was my first job and brought me great confidence in speaking to customers as well as people outside of work in genial. I was taught about shop managing; closing/opening shop, being a role model for new staff.
The hardest part about this job was trying to always have the window full as we were always fairly busy which meant sometimes we could not complete all the products.
