A typical day at work will consists of reviewing processes set up to achieve the department's short term goal and to determine what must be done next to move ahead in the processes stream to achieve the goals. 

Knox City Council taught me how to manage efficiently my work and my personal/social life. I also learned valuable skills in regards to project management, setting up goals and determining processes required to achieve them. I learnt about human-relation management through my interaction with other departments to achieve set targets. Learnt about time management while managing projects assigned to me and the daily required administrative work. 

Knox City Council is a workplace which strongly believe in the empowerment of its labour force through training, self development and by organizing regular social and corporate event to allow its staff to bond in an effort to improve overall work satisfaction, motivation and performance. 

The hardest part of the job was ensure that each concerned departments will apply our department's recommendations in regards to their procurement processes. Our recommendations were made in order to maximise purchasing power/savings and minimise cost for each departments. However, due to hard ingrown habits, some departments have been resistant to change. However, in long-run, through the use of adequate labour management skills we were able to implement those changes which benefited all parties involved. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was to have control over my own projects and to be able to train several staff. I also enjoyed the department I worked in as we had a great bond which allowed us to work efficiently as one cohesive unit. Having access to the organisation's car fleet was also a plus.

Knox City Council is one of Melbourne’s largest councils and conduct a large amount of projects to serve the community. These projects include road reconstructions, drainage upgrades, flood mitigation works as well as water quality and Water Sensitive Urban Design projects to improve the quality of the river system in the area. 

Tasks included: 

Assist the Engineering Services team with design for minor works using AutoCAD, Drains and OSD4
Project management and administration of major projects carried out by contractors for Knox Council these projects included road reconstructions, drainage upgrades and flood mitigation.
Site supervision and works audits
Assist the Engineering Services team with current council stormwater flood mapping and studies
Providing drainage information and advice to residents and developers
Provide drainage development advice to council’s Planning Department
Provide catchment analysis and design for Water Sensitive Urban Design projects within council.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The disgraceful way all kindergarten team employees have been treated during the transition process!
Shame on you Knox City Council you need to be held accountable for the amount of unnecessary stress you continue to cause

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Team was good. Upper management disgraceful with no thought for employees mental health during the transition.
We have gone from the best of the best to the worst employer imaginable 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Great when able to do the work we were originally employed to do, but council continually add additional administrative that takes so much away from this once much loved job

I worked for Knox Council for 8 years. The old Knox was a fantastic place to work, great friendly culture, family friendly, good pay and hours... however, the change of management brought a cancer that went through the entire organisation. The once friendly and approachable organisation turned into a cash crazed, money making machine that cared for no one (including their staff.) Their staff are not valued as can be seen by the constant resignations, and while the pay rate seems to entice people to show interest, Knox’s band 6 is less than other councils band 5. I strongly encourage potential applicants to look elsewhere... for your own sakes...

I have been at knox for 14 years and won't be here much longer due to job insecurity. unfortunately, a change of management that have no clue as to how the service runs. Introduces a ridiculous amount of paper work, turning parents away from the service. All of the staff leaving that have been at Knox for many, many years. No thanks for their service and loyalty. Knox are closing down another 6 kinder services, next year. They only seem to care for and want the Hubs, as it obviously generates more revenue. I have heard nothing but negative feedback from numerous collegues that have worked at the hubs. It used to be a wonderful place to work, I highly recommend you find work elsewhere, the staff turn-over alone is a huge red flag. 0/10
 

Not a great place to work, management and coordination team of Children Services need to move on. 
Educators all frustrated with the same poor culture and lack of knowledge of their job, always just told to get it done or your the problem. 
Clicky group of leadership team has them all supporting each other’s bad choices. 
No training that is worthy of VIT, no support and no consideration for how hard the educators work. 
Other surrounding councils are not like this, maybe work for them if you want to be respected

IT Support jobs are very busy or some times easy but non-stop as they are over 500 users with their various software applications as per their job requirement.
Support job meaning helping people when they are facing some challenges and for me it is always pleasure to help people when they need help despite of IT or official.
I love my job because "Your are making or fixing which is stopped and not productive for community, business and users". It is FUN and JOY when you become part of a WIN WIN :)
One of the best supportive and positive team I have found in my career

My colleagues bent over backwards to keep our workplace and community services safe during the pandemic. So many people worked incredibly long and hard to take on additional workloads due to the pandemic, with no extra pay, because it was the right thing to do. It’s a humbling experience working with so many dedicated people who are driven to make a difference in their community.

It was great. Worked with them during my degree. Eds and teachers were all great. They were very supportive, they were friendly. They were very supportive with assignments that involved observing children and implementing activities. They involved me in decisions, taught me the ropes of being part of Knx Preschool. They encouraged me to make inputs into the learning programs. Area managers/teamleaders were also great. 



Short shift each morning and afternoon, time to do other things in between, get to meet people of all ages, not just children. Hot weather can be hard to deal with, but getting to meet many different people makes the job enjoyable.  Any problems at my crossing are always resolved quickly and same with any equipment issues.
