Good experience as a ward clerk forensic hospital .
However, I took a secondment during that time there with corporate services JHAC office and didn’t have a good experience there. Several staff members who worked with that department report the same as at that time wanted contractors not exisiting staff to backfill.

I learned all the skills I needed hence wasn’t there for long (18months). Also being in a high secure closed environment takes away from being on the real world.

Primary health care delivery to maximum security classified patients. I have learnt the importance of team work and organisational processes for own and patient best outcomes. The organisation promotes core values of honesty, respect, clear communication, care and professionalism.  The hardest part of my job is the role of manager and addressing staff performance. The most enjoyable aspect is the support of peers and delivering quality care that at times changes even saves lives.

I have worked with Justice Health & Forensic Health Network and gain valuable experiences in relating to patients with complex chronic conditions. 
The health staff work along Correctional Officers in enabling people to change their life circumstances and look after their health needs and return to society.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The patients are the best part 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
First Nation staff are excluded when colleagues are making assessments and decisions about First Nation patients. Also poor support for First Nation staff. Wards are very cliquey

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Average. Nurses are great and very helpful. Social work and allied health teams not so much.

I stayed for more than 10 yrs but was very stressed the whole time due to pressure from outside my section and the negative culture in some areas of the Corrections and the nursing staff. I lasted the 10 yrs because my immediate section was dedicated to best practice and good outcomes for the patients. 

Toxic environment- the patients/inmates and officers are usually the nicest. The nursing management are very young, inexperienced and highly toxic. 
With staffing cuts and increased inmate numbers it is beginning to be a dangerous environment. If you value your registration- don’t go there!! 

Used to be a great place to work even though the workload was heavy and team always busy.
However with new management restructuring the workplace has been consumed with micromanaging and bullying from management.
Staff turnover was never great but this is the worst it has been further contributing to the understaffing crisis.
Management would rather try to run people out of the job than make it a place people want to stay.

A bit of a tricky place to navigate. Cliquey, and full of overpromoted, inexperienced middle managers who are friends of friends, and so now their recent promotions makes sense.

These people appear resentful of now being office based, and making it their mission to ensure that the larger teams working lives are made hellish day to day. No appreciation of the hard work.

Justice health is very dysfunctional and chaotic , inmates are falsely imprisoned a lot of the time and the staff aren’t very nice or helpful , there is a bullying culture and they lied about me and destroyed my career by putting a notification into ahpra about me saying I was danger to the public and effectively ended my nursing career and I was the only one who cared about the abuses happening

Has a constantly high turnover of staff because the management is toxic and intimidating of the staff. Managers do not own up to their own errors in recruitment, ie when wrong geographic areas have been recruited and managers proceed to micromanage and bully the people they need to leave in order to rectify their own mistakes. Underhand, unpleasant and an overall awful place to work.
