JAG is a horrible and toxic company. The state and middle management is completely untrusting of coordinators and service staff, and constantly force "new" and "innovative" re-structures on services to boost bookings. It is impossible to keep up with these changes. The changes are always shiny from a marketing perspective, but are completely useless and illogical to implement in real services. If your job ad says "have the day free to yourself"- this is a lie. Most weeks include several unnecessary meetings in this "middle of the day break" and service coordinators are constantly interupted throughout the day when they're not working with phone calls. Last year, one week before all coordinators were supposed to receive a $4000 award-mandated bonus, this company verbally "re-structured"  (never in writing) to remove the Educational Leader title away from service coordinators, taking away their bonuses. Actions at JAG have screamed louder than words, and just to keep you in the loop, those words are: WE DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. This company does not care about children at all or the quality of their services. Their only interest is profits, and pretty photos for their marketing and social media. If it wasn't for the wonderful school I work in and fantastic service team, I would have left long ago. There are many many other OSHC providers, who actually support their staff's wellbeing with lower ratios, better support systems, present managers and paid parental leave. Please look into them.  This is an awful company who will sap your energy and then toss you away. Please look elsewhere, I would hate for any more people to be treated poorly by this comapny. 

First of all, they sent me on a wild goose chase of research and learning about the company. The days reading about their individual initiatives weren't bad, but having to drive my own car - and filling it on my own dollar while petrol prices were insane - around the countryside to visit schools and watch how JAG's OSHC Club functioned was as much as a waste of time as it was a waste of my money. Then, after an extremely rushed 'training period' where the only things I learnt were what I taught myself, I was thrown into a project with no instructions, no help, and uncooperative co-workers. Not to mention my job was advertised as remote, and yet I had to commute two hours to their Caloundra office on Monday mornings, only to sit there doing nothing because no one would instruct me on what it is I should be doing. When I voiced concern over my project due to being - rudely, may I add - shut down by my co-workers, my boss - who was in Melbourne and didn't have 'time' to train me - decided I wasn't cut out for a corporate environment. I rallied hard and put my best foot forward to prove I could learn how to navigate this ridiculous company, but was let go within six weeks. They tried to stiff me out of my last week's payment and what little PTO/sick leave I had accumulated, so I contacted an employment agency to inquire on my behalf and was eventually paid. Don't waste your time or effort applying for this place. Everyone is 'too busy' to help you learn anything about your job, and don't even know enough about your job to help even if they wanted to.

As someone who is 2 years fresh out of high school, this is my first part time job..I was nervous enough as it is. They were kind enough to offer me a traineeship to study for my Diploma in childcare, and honestly I enjoyed the job when I started, but as the months went on..I only realised how toxic it was.

The way I am treated in my workplace disgusts me. I am talked down to (even in front of the kids) and I am even yelled at sometimes. They have made me come in when I was terribly sick...twice and they made me try and cover it..and they said they "tried" to cover it but I doubt it.. They don't seem to respect my opinions, they don't let me do things on my own. Working here has worsened my Anxiety and my mental health, there are days when I have to force myself out of bed and go. Not to mention how I feel like I am constantly walking on eggshells around everyone. Even my parents are disgusted, it's even gotten to the point where I am joining a union to feel protected, and studying so hard to get this diploma done so I can finally leave!

The job itself is great, the kids and families are amazing! I would honestly enjoy it..if I was treated better. 

Basic Summery: Treated badly, toxic environment, wouldn't work here, find another company.

Starting off as a casual staff member, growth within the company was not on my agenda. Though understanding the companies policies and procedures, and throughout fulfilling more shifts, the company liberated all staff members. After one month I was offered a coordinators position from our regional  operations manager, given my techniques, initiative and past experience. It was great to be recognised through my 'demonstrated hard work' just after a short period. I learnt so many new things and by managing a school within our region. From coordinating staff, rostering, approving timesheet/leave, acting quick on the spot, filling in cancellations, truely showed me how understanding and empathetic i needed to be, to truely fulfil my job description and what i believed in. Also dealing with parents/teachers was not the easiest part of the job, still allowed me to re-create my social direction when dealing with contractors/families. What I loved most about my job was making a difference for the company and identifying learning developments from the children, being there first hand! I boosted the company's contract minded with the school by increasing our limit, allowing us to accept and extra 45 children and being provided with another premises within the school.

A typical day at work consists of catering to the needs of the children, playing games, provided them with nutritional food, and ensuring high levels of safety at all times. 
During my time with this company i have learnt the importance of safety and have become more confident in creating relationships with customers and co workers. i have developed sound knowledge of a variety of softwares and websites. 
I have learned the ability to time manage in a variety of aspects, e.g. organising and running incursions and excursions, picking up the children from their class, i have also gained the ability to manage a small team, providing direction and assistance. 
The hardest part of the job is becoming emotionally vulnerable, when a child is upset or hurt it takes affect on me, as they are my responsibility when in my care i feel the need to protect and look out for them. The most enjoyable part of the job is gaining relationships and friendships that will last forever, i have met so many people of different cultures and backgrounds during my time, i feel i have grown as an individual and have become more confident.

During my shifts, I've noticed a lack of clear roles or assigned responsibilities for tasks like dishes, seasonal evaluations, and head counts. There also seems to be a lack of structured communication or coordination among the team. For instance, there are no regular meetings where a designated coordinator leads discussions and assigns activities to educators. Instead, activities often seem to default to free play without clear direction.

I've had ideas and suggestions to contribute, but I've noticed they are sometimes taken without acknowledgment or credit, which feels disrespectful. Additionally, I've felt excluded from important meetings and conversations, which has been disappointing.

Another concern is that activities requiring assistance are sometimes initiated without a designated educator in charge, which can lead to confusion and inefficiencies.

Despite these challenges, I genuinely enjoy working with the children. I'm seeking advice on how to address these issues constructively with my team and management to improve our teamwork and effectiveness.

Osh Club is a Collaborative and professional workplace who has a professional work ethics and provides ongoing trainings  and developments to the permanent staffs to upgrade their skills .I had some bad experiences dealing with unqualified casuals who had no knowledge or whatsoever to deal with the children at all . We spent hours training them on the spot whilst dealing with challenging children, ISS ,Court orders etc which made me difficult to run the day smoothly. They should appoint staffs who has some kind of experience in child care industry or at least all staffs must have Certificate 111 and previous work experiences dealing with children especially in the busy centres. I would suggest also some centres must and should have inclusive support workers or Trained ISS teachers  to assist the staffs to deal with special needs as most of the staffs have no knowledge or skills to handle them at all which distributes the whole program and creates a difficult and stressful situation for everyone . 

Lovely to build relationships with children, parents and staff. I would recommend staying as a casual or educator if you want a nice fun and easy job. As a coordinator it is nice to run your own service and create fun programs.

Company expects way too much from coordinators with never ending paperwork that is impossible to complete in hours given. Expected to run lots of new “adventures” but is impossible with so little staff and children with additional needs. It’s clear the new programming is an attempt to save the company but they have given very little extra time or staff that would be needed to actually achieve what they want.  Constructive feedback from coordinators is dismissed by higher ups. Staff should be given training on behavioural needs. Coordinators get paid so little for the amount of hours and dedication required to run a service according to their standards. Coordinators become burned out quickly and get very little recognition for their efforts. Pay people more, reduce the unnecessary workload and you will have more staff who are happy to work.

National Operations Manager, State Operations Manager, Senior Regional Operations Manager, and Regional Operation Managers for NSW all resigned recently within a couple of weeks of each other mainly because personal ethics differed from company’s.  Several Coordinators and educators also resigned at the same time. NSW has effectively no leadership or management team in place. Children are seen as a commodity by this company. Every aspect of the company is profit driven. Every decision is based on how much money it can generate. There is no support for staff at any level both in the services and in the wider team. Wages are very low and staff are overworked. Services run on a shoe string budget, especially smaller services. Staff turnover is constant with at least every service experiencing staff walkouts every other month. Not a good work environment for any ethical person or if you truly care about children and communities. Generally staff very unhappy.

I wouldn't recommend, but try it out 

Come in early around 6:30 to open all the doors and to turn the alarms off.
Prepare the breakfast and serve to all the Children coming in.
In the morning and you sign them in or support parents with sign-ins depending on the service. greet parents and get children involved in activities that you have planned based on a program that you made weekly. 

Children help you pack up activities after play and you walk the younger children back to their classrooms. 

Pack up all the food items and other leftover mess. 

Make orders for food from coles or other companies. 

Then come back for the afternoon shift and have everything ready for children for the afternoon.

The most difficult aspect of this job is dealing with difficult behaviors from children as you do not get the support from the corresponding school and parents are not always understanding. Management not really supportive
