Work begins at 4:30am and from the start its full on with Pre-Operational checks and on the go quick response, its dangerous, its hard work, the quicker you do your part the sooner you finish, always expect complicated situations but mostly handled in a swift and professional manner that comply with company policy and procedures, work usually finishes around 2:00pm-6:30pm depending on are variety of obstacles such as livestock movement, chain movement and delays such like performance, maintenance and emergencies.
I learned that the quicker you are and the more parts you play in the process equals management satisfaction and early knock-offs.
Everybody has a part to play in the process, and depending on your location in the chain, limits your overall workload and performance but in saying that its all very hard work and every co-worker in the process does exactly what they need to do to archive the numbered heads of livestock and statistics.
The hardest part of the job would be training new personnel in the skill of a process worker or stockman.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere working as a team in a variety of situations, the sunrises and sometimes the sunsets and the location of the site had incredible views over looking the paddocks and the river. I encourage anybody to have a go and take it all in.

A typical day at work is swiping in at the Head Office then clocking in at the Cold Stores. Gear up, Gloves, Jackets, Beannie, Pants, and hearing protection. We get to work in our teams.

What I learned from JBS is having fun at work to make it a better working place. Interact with your co-workers, how to prioritise your work load and energy to get through the day.

My co-workers were welcoming when I first started at JBS. They showed me how things operate in the work place and guide me through as the first week went by.

The hardest part of the job was the long hours. Working 10 hours was long but it was good money. It was also hard to leave such a enjoyable job.

The most enjoyable part of the job was the relationship with the Foreman, the co-workers and the company. Now and then the company would throw a BBQ for the workers during our breaks. The cafeteria was a enjoyable place to have your lunch break.

JBS is a good work place.

My experience at JBS Australia Bordertown was a nightmare. Managers are rude, they don’t care about you. The communication was very bad, they expect you to know how to do your job within the first 2days that you start. The pay is very bad, it’s not worth your sweat and blood. I reckon people only work at JBS when they’re desperate for a job. The supervisors were very unprofessional and rude overall they didn’t care about any workers but the work, if you’re in pain they’ll tell you to suck it up. I was mentally and physically exhausted and broken everyday after work because they over worked me to the point where I had to get surgery. I would not recommend this job to any of my friends or family. HR people were also very bad at communicating, they never understand where I’m coming from when I’m in deep trouble. 

a typical day at work starts off with going into the chillers and organising the product from first on truck to last on truck. after that we loaded the product onto the truck. i learnt how to read a manifest, how to organise things in a proper way, how to work quick and safely and correct lifting techniques. management was good helped us out and most the time done their job to %100 and easy to get along with.  the people i worked with were relaxed, funny and hard workwers so they were easy to get along with. the hardest part about the job was the physical strain put on you. loading cattle quaters, sheep and bigs on your shoulders.The most enjoyable part about the job was when we could all work and have a joke at the same time.

The Longford plant an environment where you are placed in a position where you need to be a good little worker, bust yourself and do as your told in the hope the hope that maybe, just maybe you might get a position that pays more than 50c above minimum wage. The management is toxic and there is no compassion, just a need to get as much done with as little labour as possible. When you are advertising for workers on shopper dockets, that says it all. They have churned through that many workers out there yet blame the workers for the lack of workers. They do not look at management at all, they think it couldn't possibly be them for the reason no Longford or Launceston resident will work there. Stay clear of this place

the plant was good to work at , however there was always talk of job stability .
There was plenty of opertunities for career advancement , however every day you would leave work thinking would there be a job there the next day . 
I don't believe that the company is looking after there employees . Eg if they finished people up and showed and had there separation certificate say terminate it would be easy for the employee to claims things like car payments with the loan protection.
By standing the employees it appears that JBS are looking after themselves so that they don't have to pay all the employees what they are entiled to.

Clock in grab my work uniforms from my pigeon hole. Head to the change rooms to get changed into full whites, gumboots, helmet and a hair net. Go down into the floor and get my table ready for the shift. I learned that working as a team is more efficient than working as one. 
Management I would say, it was good but it always came down to who the foreman of the chain liked more as they got the easier jobs. Workplace culture was very multicultural. The hardest part about the job would be trying to adjust from a night shift to a day shift. The most enjoyable part of the job would be making new friends and being able to socialize.

A typical day at the meatworks involved many things. As I was in the cyrovac area I had to throw the packed meat in large kilo lots onto the conveyer for vacuum sealing. Later I was placed into the mincer room where I would "feed" the top of the mincer. Co-workers were nice, friendly and always helpful. Hardest part of the job was lifting the heavy packaged meat and in the mincer room, lifting heavy bones. The thing I enjoyed the most was going to work with a nice bunch of people.

This is a company that ignores safety violations and promotes those that agree with the boss.
Jobs are given to friends of the HR personnel who have no experience.
Money was OK but stress levels are high due to unsafe practices. Lazy workers who are popular with management seem to get away with doing as little as possible. 
Long standing workers have a chip on their shoulders and they seem to shirk hard work and leave things for the next person to clean up.

JBS have ownership now and they do not act as they preach.

The workforce is generally unhappy but we need money to live.

The money is OK, work is generally safe but the atmosphere is unhappy.

It's a young person's environment and that is evident in the staff selection process and treatment.

It is not a nice place to work.
