Where do I even begin. For some reason (probably indeed taking a bribe from Wetherspoons) my review keeps getting taken down, likely because I'm exposing a lot of the truth behind this monster of a company. 

Working hours were ridiculous, one time I didn't leave the pub until 4.30am because of an incompetent manager who couldn't cash up the tills adequately. Was then expected back in at 11am (very illegal). I was 2 minutes late due to lack of sleep or food and water (basic human requirements to survive) and was subsequently shouted at and stomped down by the bully of a pub manager. 

Certain staff were favoured, unfair progression because of managerial favourites. Very authoritarian, your treated like a numbered working machine not a human. They make you feel like you owe them and your their property. Pay was pretty abysmal considering the work itself (scummy alcoholics wanting their morning pint). 

Had a mental breakdown one day and was told to get over it and it was unacceptable to miss work. Managers then gossiped and openly humiliated me in front of other staff. 

You can barely stop to drink water without being barked at (in the summer months this is horrific). Bonuses are focused towards management so your hardwork gets them more money not you. Breaks were ok moat of the time however there were some missed. Staff were great to work with, barring a few who made it a school playground with all the gossip and office politics. 

Denied time off on some occasions, made to do 3 or 4 closes in a row due to poor rotas and lazy staff. Manager would frequently sit up in the office doing nothing other than watching everyone on cctv then phoning down if they saw something they didn't like a staff member doing. 

Very high staff turnover (not surprising) the online training is a joke, the pub manager was a vile bully and the hours were that bad I could barely look after myself or see family and friends.

DO NOT WORK HERE!!!!

Typical day at work would beginning with setting up the bar and ensuring all tables are set up and clean. Breakfast will be served and during this time can be quite busy. We all pitch in to do serve customers at the tills, deliver food, feedbacks and clearing. Then the dinner menu begins after 12 till 9pm.

It was difficult with the hours cut to get everything done as quick and efficent as normal but we all pulled together and did our best. Unfortunately sometimes our customers were let down whether it be service or food. However they were apologised to and compensated for their trouble.

I became good friends with the supervisors and management which took the time to explain how their job affects the whole day to day operations of the business.

Most enjoyable part was the colleagues as they got along well and cconstantly had staff nights out. They really made me feel welcome when I first started.

Worst job ever and I've worked in 2 different wetherspoons! The first wetherspoons was horrific, deputy manager instantly took a dislike to me (I'd barely said hello on my first day and she was horrible) but I did manage to keep day shifts as I couldn't get home due to public transport on a night time.  Then i started uni and moved pubs as a new one opened near my student accommodation. This was equally dreadful. Bad management and a clear divide between the managers and staff. Most staff on a close had to get taxis home especially on a weekend when sometimes we wouldn't get out the pub until 3 or 4am. The wages barely cover the cost of a taxi.  Management staff are shockingly bad. The way you get treated is ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend anyone to work here even if you just need a part time job. Please apply somewhere else for your own sanity!

Always understaffed
Really stressful when busy, management tell you to ask for help if you need it but when you do nobody helps they just ignore you
Some customers can be rude and treat you like s***
When asked to cover a shift on your day off you're guilt tripped into it
Staff are in cliques and if one doesn't like you then the rest of the group don't, also a lot of speaking about people behind their backs
Wage isn't worth the amount of stress you go through
Oh and they only give you an apron, you have to buy every other part of your uniform, even your tie

I loved my time working at Wetherspoon, the atmosphere there was great, the staff there are wonderful in their own ways, no two people are the same, the management team were really supportive and friendly, the customers are lovely and if you are new to the job they are really patient with you and help you find what beverage you are looking for, it is fast paced at times and there’s always something for you to do, weather it’s toilet checks, unloading deliveries, running the gantry, or serving on the bar and doing iOrders it is fantastic there and your team will support you.

The people are great to work with. Everyone helps each other out as a team.

Working on event day's. Gets extremely busy.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When I did work at Wetherspoons depending on the day it was chilled.

Its a good place to start on a bar, i also spent some time in the kitchen which i didn't like (I'm no chef though). The people are always friendly to work with, most duty managers are too as they've started at the bottom and are usually happy to help as they understand any struggle. My manager at the time wasn't like this at all, he had no clue how to treat his staff.

clock in to work, apron on and then start serving tables. After 4 hours of work I would get a half hour break. I learned how to deal with customers. Hardest part of the job was dealing with food complaints. Best part of the job was earning easy money while enjoying my job.

leading a team through a shift to make sure runs smoothly. Dealing with cash handover, up floating tills, dealing with customer complaints, making sure the staff were working to the best of their ability, training new staff and making sure the customers were happy.

Required a lot of hard work. 

Good atmosphere and people good bonus scheme. 

Long unsocial hours. Work very hard for very little reward. overall 3/5.

The hardest part about the job was that it will always understaffed and you had to take care of everthying at once.
