You'd stand around all day, or if it was busy - try and force people to buy things. Which wasn't hard considering they always had a 50% sale on. Which shows that their products are overpriced for what they actually are. 

Management is horrible. They play favourites and give nothing back to the hardworking employees. 

Hardest part of the job - being so desperate for a job that you take the emotional and mental abuse they throw at you.

Enjoyable -

- You get a good staff discount on items; but that is literally it. Nothing else is enjoyable. 

CONS OF THIS COMPANY: 
Horrible co-workers, Manager is playing favourites, was made redundant with no notice, and told to find a new job once fired, never work with them. EVER, They don't hold up any promises they make to you, Got told I wasn't a 'strong' member of the team, even though I made a $2,000 dollar sale. And worked on New Years at another store A WHOLE HOUR AWAY. Came in to unpack stock when it got overcrowded, wasn't rostered on enough

A day at Ishka involves being bullied and manipulated to work unpaid hours. False hope and career promises. High stress and unfair work practises.
This company does not embody the values it promotes. It sells overpriced items of course at a 50% off discount every other week. Favourites are picked for career progression, usually those who willingly work unpaid. 
I know there are some kind people who work for Ishka however there practises are far from it. 
If you value a work life balance, being appreciated and paid for hours you work, be given a descent amount of rostered hours do not work for this company.

Would not recommend getting a job at Ishka as there is no job security as management does not follow the rules regarding letting people go, giving notice etc. They do not abide by the signed agreements given to start off with and treat workers horribly in general and provide no support even when head office was contacted by several employees regarding serious issues. They clearly do not value their workers and enable a horrible person to be in charge of a store that everyone else worked hard to be a part of and were once proud to work at.

I've never seen ANYONE who has had such bad work ethic and managerial inability be able to get away with such bad behaviour. Disappointed with the way problems were dealt with when I brought them up,  instead of conflict resolution, just a whole bunch of gossip and finger pointing.  I'm not surprised the company is going down with staff members like these in charge. There is nothing about this job that is worth your mental health and the misery that comes with it.

I had an amazing team and found the staff benefits great.

Relaxed and enjoyable. Serving customers and unpacking/sorting stock as required.

Ishka's HR is terrible, I was fired for HR's mistake of hiring me too young (they hired me when I was 14, min age for working there is 15). The hours were inconsistent, and I was regularly left alone at peak hours in the store underage. The work environment itself was okay. No formal training except for online quizzes. 

A typical day at work was full on, with lots of things to be done, but all were made enjoyable by a warm atmosphere and kind-hearted co-workers and customers. The hardest part about doing my work experience at Ishka was it ending! I loved my time there, being with others and getting things done. The thing i enjoyed most about this job was the people I got to work with.

I thought it would be a good and organised place to work but I was wrong. The manager accused members of my team of stealing. I was the youngest employee (17yo at the time) and only had eight hours a week and then the manager cut my hours down to six.

a very fun environment, relaxed but also fast paced at times. management can be a bit slack and slow on things but almost always feel like you're being taken care of.

Started out a great place to work and Manage. As time went on they expected you to work to many extra hours not paid. Over 4 years without a holiday and even on your days off or holidays they would call you back in instead of sorting out staff to help out. Greedy and not as ethical as you think. Don't care about their managing staff.
