After a long (over 10 yrs) employment with this company, I finally realized what a terrible and unsupportive company I had been working for. It does depend on what site your stationed at, but the underlying problem is that ISS under bid for the renewal or new contracts when they come up, then realize that they need to put in short cuts to make up the losses, and that filters down to the work sites they manage, which in turn makes the workload on the employees that much more harder. They will run the screening points continuously under staff, due to sick leave and uncovered shifts, which makes it a very stressful place to work in. The ongoing training is very baldly handled, and most new training comes out in memo form. There are huge problems with management "favourites" when it comes to promotion as well. The team leaders and floor staff make the screening points run efficiently.......NOT MANAGEMENT. You will receive very little praise for your hard work and dedication, but they will constantly come down on you for the smallest of mistakes. They constantly monitor you and that gives you a feeling of distrust on the behalf of them. The money is very average considering what you have to know and do to be able to become an Aviation Protection Officer. You need to work alot of hrs and have those hours all be at a flexirate, otherwise your base rate of $23.50 just won't cut it. I no longer work for this company due to the absolute lack of support this company gives it's staff, team leaders and supervisors. I am not bitter, and I don't hold a grudge against this company, but believe me, if you are going to spend $1000's of dollars sitting an Aviation Security Course and then buy your licence, boots and go through 40 hrs of training for a minimum wage job where you are treated like just another number, then I would advise you to look into something else.  As I said, it does depend on the site. You might be lucky, but your career has to be based not just on if your lucky or not. Everybody who leaves(they have a huge turnover rate), never regrets leaving this company. They might miss the job itself, but never the company. Good luck if you choose to work for this company as an Aviation Protection Officer. It's a great job.....just a woeful company.

I am joint with ISS Facilities Services Australia , location is Australian National University Canberra ACT Australia, from January 2013 - August 2016. Actually my basic is Mechanical Piping Engineer , I went to Canberra because my wife study Phd Degree for medical researched in ANU Canberra.
It is not easy when you before working as engineer in your country and worked as cleaner in Canberra. But It can be solve when you working with your heart. 
My Bos is Sasa Boseska and Anna Boseski who teach me to be a cleaner and after 4 month worked I got position as a supervisor. My job check all building at ANU (more than 120 buildings) , training the new cleaner and check the HSE / protective equipments that shoud be used by cleaner. My team is around 120 person, with different culture, region, contry and relegion. But When I am teached them, I always told them," I don't care who you are, I don't care where you from, I don't care you relegion, I don't care what you do in your country, for me as long as you are working as cleaner , be a good cleaner. And please working with your heart"
Mostly the workers is student who studied Phd, Master degree, or spouse student  and they had good position in they country, so they coming for they job that they don't like it. So as a trainer, I should teached them for being a good cleaner and not get complain from the client.

During Working at ISS Facilities Australia in ANU Canberra, we always got good benefit from the company, good bos/leader, no angry, always patient while we talking with the cleaner and I ever got complain from the cleaner and she angry much to me,  and as leader, I talked nicely to her. 

ISS Facilities Services for me is a good company and good understanding company to the employee and also always take care us.

Typical day at work: 
Start Am with stretches and pre start with supervisor/manger
Prepare Vehicles and equipment (pre start LV)
Go to the job locations designated by supervisor/manager
Complete jobs as pre scope
End day with wrap up and clean equipment and ready for next day

Learnt:
How to correctly use the tools/equipment as required
Maintain, repair & service equipment  
Follow procedures as per scope

Management:
The management in this company changes too often within the last few year I have seen over a handful come and go which i think it is a large area that they can approve

Teamwork:
Working in a team is important to have the job completed as pre scope time, main key is communication (talking about the task, whom doing what, what equipment is required)

Environmental / FIFO:
I think hardest part is FIFO away from familiy and friends 2 weeks away with a yound family does get harder to do, and another thing is  the environmental effects, hot day (45+ degree) after rains creating humidity and with a large job load to complete can create fatigue but when you been up there for a while you get use to it

Socialising: 
I think best part of working is the Socialising, talking to other during and after working and how can things be improved and what befits can come from them (brainstorm)

My main job's typical day starts at the gates of the dockyard where I show my pass for security reasons. I have to walk to the ship im working on, wearing all my ppe and make sure i leave my t card at the gangway of the ship showing that im onboard. My duties for the morning include cleaning the toilet rooms, shower rooms from top to bottom and my afternoon duties include cleaning the flats of the corridor that runs the length of the middle of the ship. Through the day I have to make sure that health and safety rules are followed and that no cross-contamination occurs.
In this job I have learnt about timekeeping, health and safety regulations, risk assessments, how to be a fire sentry, first aid training at work and radhaz training.
The management in my company isn't what I'd hoped it would be. There are 3 main supervisors but they don't communicate very well leaving staff confused about hours, rotas and where exactly we are working that day.
The hardest part of my job is when lots of warships turn up and I have to work in the stores party, 3 or 4 days in a row.
The most enjoyable part of my job is working with all the different characters in the dockyard.

This place is a joke, as soon as you start you are treated by staff like rubbish it’s not until you are put in a team where you will be treated like a human, there is constant favouritism and if they don’t like you they with torment you and make your day bad, everyone is told to speak English on the floor and yet no one does even after signing the pre-start forms, expect to be on your feet for long hours with no movement. Can’t complain to managers of staff are being rude as everyone is friends or family there. A lot of unprofessional relationships happening as well as inappropriate touching whilst on the floor of the terminal in full view of staff and public yet nothing is being said. Rules and procedures constantly changed and you won’t get told until the last minute, don’t trust no one only look after yourself. When you make a mistake don’t expect a friendly conversation on how to prevent the mistake expect a full blown telling off in front of passengers and staff to purposely embarrass you! No such things are culture there, I learnt who not to cross and who to be good to. Management don’t communicate and are rude. Only enjoyable things are the nice passengers and breaks

Supervisors place me in a ward - Firstly rubbish disposal General & Infectious rooms.

Followed by Vaccuming, static mopping corridoors & Mopping Patients rooms then Tea Break.

Come back from Break, Buff the general areas only (no Infection rooms) as infectious control is needed for equipment.

From there thoroughly clean basins, Bathroom and toilets. High Dusting, Restocking - paper hand towels, soaps, gloves & Toilet papers Etc every necessary place needed...

Then a 45min Lunch break....

Head back to ward & if supervisors or nurses ask for a discharge clean to be done in either General patients area or infectious patients rooms it will be commenced.

Their on after Rubbish rounds again thats the end of the day!!!! Sign out, then Home.... (some days my ward places change)

I don't think there was any disturbing part of working at the hospital. I always was happy with everyone Staff members, patients & Nurses- NUMS Etc..

I Enjoyed every Second, Minute, Hour, Days, Weeks & Months of work at RNSH!

Don't join if you're a female - they are always understaffed and (due to government requirements in terms of clearing gendered passengers) female staff are always used and abused on the floor. 
Company is inflexible - no families, no study, no hobbies, no committments wanted.
Very much a 'target on your back' environment with management as WELL as colleagues. Consistent government department tests keeps everyone stressed. 
You learn interesting things but the pros do NOT outweigh the cons in this workplace. 
Lack of accountability from management and a lack of support for staff. 
Inappropriate behaviour and harrassment complaints get swept under the rug due to lack of supervisors/trainers available.

The first day I went to the induction process,  it was fairly good and was pleased to see the important they gave to employees  . The presentations was pretty impressive on the fact they gave to work safety and well being of worker. 
The first day of work at a particular school  cleaner  room , was shocked to see the condition .Dirty , unorganised cramped .
.  The start of job was fairly easy as was on casual covid preventative cleaning. Than slowly , more jobs was added by the principals ,which I mentioned to my site manager. No action was action was taken  . 
There was only on one wet floor caution sign . Chemicals bottles open , messy cleaner rooms , no to none lights when start 5 am to 9am . Picth dark as you proceed to work .
Over worked stressful environments 
There is lot of importantance giving in safety only in theory but practically  not as much .. 
An extra half hours  of pay can saye ease to the workers life . 
Iss organisations should give more importance to employees and customers safety .









I worked as a steward at The star casino. You are asked to work in dangerous places where chemicals and hot water are mixed for better clenaning, The vapours that come out from them is not the management's concerns. Although the ISS management is nice and friendly but The star management and cooperation is negligible. ISS dont want to loose its client. Therefore, all decisions are taken from their chefs and businesspoint of view. They never ask if steward has any problems and what kind health and safety isses are being faced by stewards and cleaners. So, if you are planning to work at The Star casino. You need mentally prepare yourself that your work place is not in Australia, somewhere in Mexico.

Revised and re write daily procedures, increased buildings outlook with better and more functional gardens with less maintenance, tendered out glass tinting for the 12 level commercial building to reduce heat-load. Revised parking and security. Tendered out replacement of old with new energy efficient chillers. Revised lighting times, replaced 36W fluoro lighting with T-5 system to increase energy efficiency. Line marked and painted safety walkways car parks and external parking areas for better visual effect and safety. 
Created a harmonious, professional tenant relationship where all tenants could communicate with me at all times. 

For this role, I was awarded Excellence in Facility Management by ISS Managing Director and CBRE Asset and Property Management.
