ICE Design

I was hired to work for Ice and was promised 20-40 hours a week before employment. I quit my old job with the expectation that this was going to happen, but unfortunately, it didn't. This is a really unprofessional company and I would not recommend that anyone work there. I was promised 20-40 hours and within my second week of working there, my shifts were completely cut down to nothing. When I called the regional manager she was rude and said 'It was your choice to leave your old job,' yet she was the same one who guaranteed me the shifts. She then claimed 'You get more shifts if you perform well,' yet every time I worked we either achieved budget or achieved over the budget. This is a company that sets money and meeting budgets above employee morale and satisfaction. The employees are not valued at all, they are bullied by upper management and get all the blame for not making the budgets. Rostered shifts were given away to the next best employee who was hired. The owner and regional management are really unprofessional and I would not recommend this as a place of employment for those looking for work. Businesses like this should not be operating.

I had a great pleasure working for a good fashion company with great quality outwears , i absolutely loved and enjoyed working in a team with my coworkers and what i loved the most was meeting  different types of customers and helping them out with their needs and giving them advise on their outfit choices . As time passed i developed skills that helped me communicate better with my customers such as making them feel welcomed as they came in the store ,assisting them with their needs, giving them advise on their out fit choices and  ideas of what outfits suited their age group.  i also learned how to make plenty of sales and bring customers in making them feel special and unique , i also learned to manage my time proactively making sure to take part in as many activities as i could during the day such as helping with merchandising including putting the designs on the display, replacing the new intakes with the old ones and so on. I had a great time working in retail and hope to continue it on in the future .

Ice was an amazing company to initially work for before they closed down and re opened. Regionals were changed and it was a nightmare. They have 0 respect for employees and you are just a number to them.
The company will just close down again because the quality of the products are still bad quality but with a higher price tag.
And the name change to try to appeal to a new market of people..... Also heard they laugh in head office and make jokes about who is getting fired next in store 
New regional is belittling and talks down to her managers and uses intimidation to get people to step down. Fair trade really needs to get involved with this company
They don't treat their staff well at all! It's DISGUSTING!

Work typically consisted of a professional yet comfortable and fun environment that enabled all staff to get along and successfully help provide the best experience for customers. I learned many skills such as how to communicate with customers and help them with their ultimate goal of finding the items they were on the hunt for. I also learnt further skills in retail such as how to handle working under pressure and commercial awareness. I enjoyed being part of a hands on team with a good work ethic and motivation to run a successful business. The most challenging part of the job was management of a busy store however with perseverance and teamwork as well as self motivation that was an easily overcome obstacle.

I LOVED my job at Ice Design! customers were great, loved helping them! unfortunately, there was no training! I was thrown into 2IC position with no experience or training but I learnt as I went on. There was no job security as their stores closed down and reopened before I  started. Then there was rumours of them closing down again and no one from head office could give us reassurance. 
hours kept getting changed with no warnings, even as a fulltimer, my hours dropped to 12 a week. I ended up quitting as I was overly stressed about not knowing if it would be my last day at work or not. 
I honestly miss my position at Ice but I have moved on from that company and I hope management has gotten better since then!

Working at this particular retail industry was quite negative and tiring, due to the surreptitious nature of the experience. 

I had not received the proper training to fulfill all of the requirements meaning everything, from the start, was rushed and confusing because I had to figure out everything for myself which resulted in complaining from the staff.
As a student, I would enlighten the staff with my need to study and my goals after I graduate, yet I had contrasting views, based upon the fact that I had seemed to be the only one that was to complete High School.
I did however enjoy talking to customers and working with the cash register as they were the independent parts of the job.

A typical day working at ICE was like working with your family, everyone was so supportive and always made sure you knew what you were doing and if you needed help someone was always there happy to help, I learnt how to work with customers better and to properly engage with them as that's what my job was mostly about. Management was absolutely amazing, my store manager was so lovely and always knew what to do and when to do it. The hardest part of my job was competing for sales especially when it was a very slow day and barely any customers came in. The absolutely one thing i loved about this job was the environment and how supportive everyone was during my time there.

A business that expects more from employees than they give back. Very low income, expectations are ridiculously high for sales KPI's. Staff's job positions often threatened by Regional Managers if sales are low. 
Low security measures, and no tactics within the company to target customer theft. Not a heathy work environment or company to recommend for a young person to work.

My experience as a retail assistant with this company was one of my first jobs. The pay rates were very low and the area manager above myself bullied the retail assistants in store quite frequently. there was little incentives for employees and i saw people get fired for things like unable to come to work due to family commitments etc i believe this store is no longer open as they closed all the Melbourne stores many years ago.

Mainly customer forcused and striving in that area Ice Design is a leading force in womens fashion in Australia.
