Brilliant place to work! I was employed by hughes for fifteen years before deciding to leave thinking the grass was greener on the other side, after three years at several different companies I found myself back at hughes picking up where I left off and two years later I’m happy to say things are going great! Being a family focused company hughes are very flexible to your needs if family emergencies arise and will always try to help you out, the pay is very good and always under review if your willing to put that extra bit of effort in. The work load is fair and can fluctuate during busy periods (some early days, some late) but isn’t as manic as other places I have worked for and are always wanting feedback to try and improve our working standards.if you have a positive attitude and a good work ethic you will get on great with our management team who are always keen to hear how things are going and how things can be improved, working for hughes has been a very positive experience for me and can’t recommend them enough, with a massive array of career directions you can take once you get your foot on the ladder there I something there for everyone! For me it’s knowing that iv repaired another machine and made another hughes customer happy that are the highs of my job and with management keeping me in touch with my performance figures I can keep the standards up.

A typical day in the Warehouse can be hard work - you are always expected to be on top of things and working as efficiently as possible. If you are a hard worker you will get on just fine.

During my time with Hughes, in which I started as a Christmas temp, then moved on to a permanent position within a depot, I have learnt a lot of new skills relating to the workings of household items as well as many warehousing related skills. The company put me through fork -lift training and has always enabled me to learn new skills within an office environment also.

Management is of good quality on the whole - they keep the departments driven, provide staff with good opportunity for self reflection/constructive criticism as well as offering empathetic support when needed.

I think the workplace culture here is positive overall, I feel as though it is easy to get along with the majority of people within the business and this is owing to a culture that has been well cultivated for many years.

The hardest part of the job is knowing that your work is never finished but the most enjoyable part of the job is that there is always something to do so make of that what you will!

Terribly dated enviroment filled with two-faced management anticipating their 25-year "good-job" medal for such great commitment to the most out-of-touch company i've seen. Could be potentially the place for you if you start here at 18 and intend to work here monotonously for decades on end. 
The place is falling apart, i felt like i'd gone back in time decades. I wonder if they have upgraded from Windows XP yet? Don't worry, they use normal-ish phones and have gone beyond Dial-up. Be prepared to watch a 40 year old video on Safeguarding for things irrelevant to your role. 

Sales seemed to be the only friendly team unfortunately for me. Ensure you're apart of the click on your first day otherwise anticipate a bunch of adults to play Chinese whispers. 
Dead end company, management are all clowns who lack the basics you'd expect from a primary school child and i'm glad i dodged a bullet being here any longer than i was. My apologies to anyone who currently works here, stay strong.

During the initial inductions leadership will bleat about how they are trying to hold on to people and how they'll listen to everyone's ideas.
In reality, they don't care about the drivers, they don't care about you finishing late. Customer comes first to them, everything else is not important. You will potentially do jobs 2 hours away from the depo, and there's no chance that you're going to finish in time. 
You might be thinking, "Oh, pretty sure they'll pay me for overtime." Yes, they do, rate is 1.3, so it doesn't worth it.
But the irony in the whole thing is, that the managers won't stay in longer to make sure that all the drivers returned to depo safely. 
In conclusion: if you don't have any other commitments other than your job, go for it. But if not, stay clear.

I thought I would retire here but after being belittled, moaned, shouted at and being felt like I didn't belong...that changed. 

At first was happy, loving my job until there were certain questions that made you think if higher ups wanted you in that job or not. They'd play dumb when they know they've done wrong then avoid/ignore you.

The people I met here I will always remember and for those who are currently working there I would suggest to move on to better things asap as this was once a place you could work till retirement but not anymore.

Have issues? you'll hear the same broken record excuses and be treated like you physically don't matter. By far the best work place to make new friends but worst for a long time job.

Dead end job, starts off light for first 2 days then bam you are on your own. Seemingly picking up after other peoples mistakes, rubbish pay, over loaded vans and over worked. Stressed to sell items of your van that customers already purchase from the shops. This company will not believe you over any customer regardless of situation. Loves to fire people and replace with young temps. Rubbish atmosphere awful wages no advancement lots of people who moan. The saying is if you want good money dont work at hughes

Typical day at work is going to the depot to collect jobs and then carry out jobs within the company policies.
I also train other Aerial Erectors from depot and other depots in England.
Throughout my time at Hughes i have learnt first fix plumbing, how to transport and install electrical products and then ladder training and Aerial/ Satellite installation.
Direct management are willing to help.
Co-workers very knowledgeable always willing to help.
Hardest part of the job well none really as done it for many years.
Most enjoyable part of the job helping people.

Where to begin with the worst company I've ever worked for. They do not care for their employees. They pay minimum wage with no sick pay. They offer awful incentives which are barely achievable, the management are awful. I have seen racism, sexism, ableism from managers and other employees. They do not care for their customers and openly mock them especially if disabled or foreign.

Notice how all the 4+5 stars are from management? All the installation engineers are 1+2 stars? That shows the difference between management and staff. Impossible time schedules for customer visits. Shop staff ridiculously promising Impossible service. Management no interest in staff welfare or concerns. 

Excellent place to work.  Lots of opportunities to progress.  A really positive environment.  Always looking to do their best for employees. Hard work is recognised and appreciated.
