Housing NSW

Prior to my car accident I thoroughly enjoyed working for Housing NSW it was a hard but satisfying job that was more a vocation than an actual job.

Housing NSW was a flexible employer with many opportunities for extra learning and advancement within what we call "Actin-up" positions which gave you a taste and the experience required to apply for the permanent positions as they came available.

I would however caution those who would apply to Housing NSW to ensure that they can cope with seeing people at some of the worst times in their lives as this can be emotionally taxing. This is why working for Housing NSW is not a job, it is a vocation just as becoming a Doctor or a Nurse is a vocation. 

If you truly want to help people and can handle the associated political changes as State Governments change leadership then by all means apply and you will find that the work you do means the world to the people you help. Though keep in mind you cannot help or please everybody. 

Though with the support of your team you will succeed in this world.

- A typical day at work: Field inspection in the morning, brief meeting mid-day, then lunch in the lunchroom with few work mates, data entry in the afternoon.

- What you learned: to prioritize work and provide quality outcomes.

- Management: in line with the Department’s Project Management Framework and the asset standard business rules. 

-Your co-workers: Multicultural and multi-skilled for the best outcome making a great work environment.

-The hardest part of the job: Resolving conflict issues and disputes regarding the work non compliance notices issued to contractors.

-The most enjoyable part of the job: 
Team work - Work satisfaction: e.g. the number of vacant properties released equal the number of families housed.

I enjoyed my time at Housing NSW til a car accident removed working for the last 4 years.

It is a challenging place to work at as you meet people at some of the lowest points in their lives.

Getting one of the my clients to see that what they are going through is just one step that life has handed to them and that sometimes everyone has to ask for help is extremely rewarding.

I would recommend this workplace for those who have a vocation for helping the community

This work place encourages bullying and harassment, Management do not do anything to prevent or manage the bullying.
The employee who makes a report about the bullying is either fired or their contract is not extended and you are 'let go' and their excuse is there is no continuing work for you, despite the employer advertising for the same position 3 days later. Beware 

Great team culture. Helpful and supportive team members & management. I would be happy to go back work for FACS.
Fast pace work environment allowed me to gain valuable experience to work with multiple computer software eg CRM, TRIM-RM8, Large Document Queue,

I enjoyed my time with housing. And wante to stay in the same team i had been in for 10 years. But management do tend to move staff on and sometimes its not the best thing for the staff members or the teams they leave behind.
I would love to return to my old team. The comoradeie and the wirk was great.

The hardest part of the job was leaving, knowing that it was a temp position I wish had of lasted, the environment and work colleagues were amazing, flexible and assisted when needed, management went out of their way to assist their staff, and the overall working environment was happy and relaxed.

A fulfilling job though there is no security at the moment due to jobs being lost throughout the entire Department.

Very demanding environment, highly recommended to have pre training and practice on applicable software. I wish I had my job with Housing and be working with the experienced team and learn 

Everyone is really helpful, great working team. Housing is very dedicated to helping their clients resolve their housing needs.
