A typical day at work was all about customer service and covering the Managers lack of intel and info. 
I learned how to operate a cash register, how to become a team leader, how to use the companies intranet, how to undertake Stock taking, Stock Controlling, how a department store is operated, Liaising with different teams just to get a job done, postal room activities(transfers and online sales) stock delivery.
They were most times unaware of protocol or just the daily running of the business. they were changed quite regularly. Never the less they took notes and used them to their benefit.
They where helpful, and took directions well.
There was nothing hard about the job.
Serving customers and seeing the smiles on their faces, and getting commendations from staff or customers alike.

Buy and collect was an excellent place to work managers are very supportive also are the work colleagues always keeping us on the ball pushing us to do better very busy which was good and I always had something to do then I got transferred to womens' wear they have you working long hours. I worked until 11pm then the next day started at 9am which is illegal didn't get my hours kept chasing my manager. 5 manager via 2 floors but I could never find none they said they was short staff but we never really had customers so all I ever did was standards.I think because I was only temp they really did not care about me.

busy active environment, requiring a lot of interaction and team work across a number of Management levels. As a Concession manager my day to day role is keeping the balance right of performing to my company expectation and working alongside House of Fraser managers.

the atmosphere in the Oxford street store is amazing there is a constant buzz of activity every day.

most difficult part is keeping the balance between managing my business and maintainly communcation with House of Fraser managers.

Warning, DO NOT BOTHER. Horrible management. They bully staff they dont like, and all work as a force to remove staff they do not like, whole building is based on favouritism. Management demand respect from staff when the managers themselves do not actually know the meaning of respect... One day they are friends with you the next day they will stab you in the back.  They never have enough staff to cover their mats. Horrible horrible store. Stay away! Nothing good about that store.

House of Fraser taught me the difference between a normal shopping experience and a VIP shopping experience. I learnt how to go the extra mile to make a customer feel extra special & valued. I also had to become very independent at House of Fraser, I had to use my initiative a lot more as it was not encouraged to ask questions or depend on others but instead to make sure that I myself was well informed and up to date with current news & changes within the business.

The days I worked here, as my first job, I learnt so much about retail and fashion. I gained all my customer service skills from here and went on not long after. I loved the friendly, young and buzzing environment. The benefits were good at the time not sure what it is like now but I suggest anyone who is studying or looking for part time job, this was once a cool place for me and I enjoyed and met some great people who I am still in touch with.

What ever was required by the manager on a daily basis. This included working with the public and ensuring colleague were trained and equipped to do their job properly. Everyone was always happy and positive, this made it an excellent place to be.

Overall - disorganized and incompetent management.

Customers were rare on the Home floor so days were extremely draining

I excelled at customer service and enjoyed the service industry tremendously. 
I loved it most when the shops were busy, the hardest part of the day would be if there was not much to do but having to remain visible on the shop floor rather than getting on with admin behind the scenes.

I have been extremly lucky to have been given a chance to gain my Personal Shoping experience at House of Fraser, where i could work with a variety of brands and polish my personal styling and bra fitting skills.
An amazing learning curve and definately a great place to experience the buzz of West End.
