I was only there for a week as it was for work experience at my school, but during my week I learnt a lot and talked to different people. During the first half of the week I did housekeeping which involved making beds, hoovering and setting up the rooms like how they were before. I then went onto working in the dining area, I work as a waitress mainly, I collected dishes, glasses, served people including a group type discussion which was important, there was a lot of rushing around, I also helped set up the tables for the coach tours. The management was a bit too old fashioned, really strange... My co-workers were really nice people and I had good conversation with them. The hardest part of the job was the housekeeping as I had to do the same thing everyday whereas the other part of the job had a variety of things to do. I liked talking to people when I did the waitressing.

I had high hopes when I joined the housekeeping team, but unfortunately, the reality didn’t match the expectations set during the interview. Despite being promised stable hours, I was frequently given minimal shifts—sometimes only a handful across two weeks—which made it hard to manage basic expenses.

There were also unexpected workload pressures that weren’t clearly communicated beforehand. The environment became increasingly difficult due to a few senior staff who seemed to target newer team members. I witnessed unfair treatment and gossip that undermined morale and created unnecessary tension.

Ultimately, I’m relieved to have moved on. The experience taught me a lot, but I wouldn’t recommend this workplace to those seeking a respectful and consistent team dynamic.

Great pace environment, Learned so much, got to meet to a lot of people, learned to count the float(counting of the money and its takings), learned to make coffee, did room service. The manager was an excellent manager taught me new skills and how to do things properly, and was always there when needed a hand. The workplace had so many different cultures and got many different cultures coming through. The hardest part of the job would be doing a lot of running around. The most enjoyable parts of the job was that I got to meet a lot of people, learning new skills like making coffee, and learning the bar, learning how to set up and break down functions, my work colleague was amazing they would help me a lot, show me an easy way to do things, and they was very friendly.

I thought I landed in a good place, at first the hours were good, but then being expected to work shifts with sometimes barely 5 hours between each shift was exhausting. 
Never given the legal requirement of a break!! So even if you did get food you certainly couldn't eat it! 
Staff are clicky....a lot of backstabbing and sniping. 
Management do not stand up for staff, they only care about profit regardless if the staff member is being abused or not, in my time there I only found one member of management to be any help, and it went massively down hill as soon as they left. 
I would not recommend this place to anyone for a job, let alone a career!!

Due to lack of experience and knowledge running such hotels. This was a big challenge for someone to learn/adapt and be able to manage such a beautiful property at a prime location. Management had always been too busy highering own buddies and looking after them. This built a culture of the laid back or hotel was managed by the staff than by the managers. Due to the demographics of the area, the bar was running its own rest was GOD's mercy. 

so enjoy at workplace, there is no Sara or Racism from the other worker's, i was learned so much think there, to respect each other and know about the other culture from my partner work which come from another country, and can be more discipline and keep spirit to work with good management, but same with the other job condition, where sometime we get difficulty on it. in my case, the hardest part of the job is to replace the bed linen, where we must lift the bed to can make it be neat. and the last, the most enjoyable part is when i was complete my task :)

Love to meet different types of people  during they stay. And most important  the staff  are really  friendly and helpful to each other  .

When you r ask to  stay back until  the  visitors  check out  then we r able to do the clean  the rooms

Its a great company to work for, very mulitcultral and a family orientated place i would reccommend anyone looking for work to try Holiday Inn Sydney Airpoirt.Lot of opportunities,cross trainning in other departments,priviledges,staff accommadation rates.

The typical day at work,was when i have to serve too many customers at a time,and also clear the tables at the same time.I learned to be fast and calm with the situation.I make sure i manage my time well,so i can meet up with my customers demands.My co-workers to get busy with other customers,in case of any problem above us we take it to the manager.The hardest pare is when the order take long in the kitchen.My most enjoyable part is when the customer is please.
