A typical day at work would be very busy on the phones. Kept you busy made the day go quickly. Making and taking calls. Running credit cards before concrete was delivered. Corresponding with plant managers and drivers re jobs and requirements eg address changes, adding oxides or accelerator to mixes.
I learnt how to multi task. I learnt a high level of attention to detail and responsibility. The high pressure of the job made me a lot more confident in myself and my abilities as an employee.
My work mates were wonderful I got along with all very well and still keep in touch.
The hardest part was feeling under appreciated for the hard work we all put in. And seeing management taking advantage of people who did not know how to say no. 
There was no room for me to advance my career.
I thoroughly enjoyed my job and our team.

When I started at holcim it was an awesome place to work, everyone got along and management were all good people, 
The quarry ran smooth and there were no issues, 
We got a new site manager everything went down hill from there, they cut  , wages, overtime and they are still not looking at getting any better, 
The reason I am looking for another job is because I don’t want to get stuck somewhere where everything if just going to drag me down with it , thenjust for me to try and climb back out of  everything, 
I have two little kids at home and a missus that I don’t like be cranky around because of work so it’s time to change and look for better options for a better career

A great place to work everyone is very friendly and welcoming to new staff.

The management are all great and talk to you on a level playing field and the co-workers are all friendly and helpful

The hardest part is the fact I didn't really know alot about concrete when I first started but in saying that everyone was helpful.

The most enjoyable part would have been the customers and off course making new friends.

Unfortunately this was only a short contract period.

Great working in a pleasant, and positive environment with great on-the- job training and nice and friendly co-workers including Management who were happy and approachable for any queries etc.

Work was easy to follow as the system in place was well implemented and made work flow readily and manageable.

The hardest time was when I had to leave, otherwise would have gladly stayed permanently.

Check chemical stock; dip cement silos for levels; checked water levels at pits; turned water pump on to transfer water to front pits.

Pre start for loader; cleaned out first wash bay pit and fallout pits.  Once that was done I checked orders and answered phones.  

Went back and maintained stock level in bins with product.  At the end of the day made sure all bins were full for next day.  pushed stock piles up.  Cleaned the front area under the sock.

Hardest part of the job was the constant long hours for big jobs.
Most enjoyable was the work and the employees.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Absolutely bad management have no direction in Canberra  .holcum was the leader but bad management.  Now on the bottom of the barrel

Bad management  made stupid decisions lost lots of work .had to get rid of lod.

Work colleagues good but bad environment due to lack of work 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Do not to much as not muck work for lods.

running tool box talks, supervising blast crews, managing contractors coming onto site and signing off on jsa's, meeting production tons to customer for ongoing local project work, supervising of crushing infrastructure, pug mil both fixed and mobile plant, updating safe operating procedures, delivering training as required, entering site hazards into INX reporting system and closing out actions as required.

Great staff and experienced team members

Nothing was great easy to work no stress

Great to deal with everyone no issues at all 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start the day with a individual face off then toolbox talk followed by job directives that need to be followed.

Since the first day I felt welcomed. Through the months and years I always had the feeling that my job was appreciated. The culture of efficiency and quality of products and services was the perfect fit for my way of thinking at my job. The Company always promoted efficiency and my time was never wasted.
I would have liked more training but my opinion of Holcim is very high, I would go back if there was an open position.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Freedom to do your job properly but the safety officer was not good at his job 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No response from safety officer on getting things sorted

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was ok but needed improving

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Flat out on a forklift all day long and no space to put concrete product in the right places
