Healthscope Pathology

I work in a stat satellite lab in Ashford Hospital, there is a Biochem, Haematology,Transfusion and Specimen Receptionn department, and all departments support each other and communicate openly and effectively, ensuring we maintain an exceptional standard of service to the clients. 
We service, A&E, ICU, Cardiac Care, Maternity and have 45-60 turn around times for results, which means we have to be fast and thorough in the processing of specimens, which can be stressful at times.
Being a small to medium sized lab has meant being able to build a rapport with the doctors we provide for daily, making it a wonderful team environment.
My co-workers are extremely helpful, resourceful, and knowledgeable, and are always more than happy to explain the meaning of a test or a result, or to tell a joke to make you smile when the day is getting a little busy and stressful.
The hardest part of the job is the time demands, especially when inundated with specimens, and late then early shifts.
The best part of the job is that it is interesting and there always something new to be learned

Healthscope is a great company to work for. Management is superb. Atmosphere is healthy. Great team. Always organising workshops and seminars to improvise the techniques. Staff meetings always were helpful as everyone got the oppurtunity to have their input in running the department efficiently and the work load was evenly distributed.

Productive and typical hectic. I learned and improved different skills and met the requirement that's needed. Management works on prospective prior to provide a good service in medical industry and healthy environment. A medium size of organisation and seen types of mannerism. The hardest part of the job was when errors occurred and unable to rectify. The most enjoyable part of the job was to work with people where teamwork has been an input to my experience.

Changes in management and Medicare cuts made Healthscope into an unbearable workplace rife with malpractice and cover ups.
I was bullied and harassed constantly due to my more ethical approach to our patients and the community.
I was not the only one many staff left due to the stress, low pay and ineffective management of the workplace.
Their reputation is lousy and they have earned it.

Healthscope Pathology is a very busy workplace with a large turnover of samples. I have learned excellent time management skills and developed ability to work under pressure in this place.The co-workers are very supportive and understanding, it is a great team to work with. The hardest part of the job is to be able to deal with the workload but the challenge also makes it enjoyable.

Worked as the lone phlebotomist in various labs around Brisbane (Australia) after spending 2 months in training about procedures. Worked mostly weekends and nights while enrolled in medical school.
Co-workers were very nice but the job was quite solitary.
Hardest part of the job was working nights and going to class in the morning

Very productive working environment, the managing stuff were very helpful and understanding.
Sometimes getting time off the phones to complete my follow up which I promised customers that I would follow up, which was kind of hard as we only had 6 customer representatives full time. Which some days just couldn't deal with the number calls coming into the office.

When I had the interview for this position I was told that I MAY have to work a Saturday morning every couple of months. This then turned into every 2nd Saturday.  The hourly rate that I had for this position terrible the cleaner in the medical centre was getting more than I was. Also the supervisor for the area only had one person on her mind and that was her.

I loved working for this company in Melbourne's western suburbs, I had great area managers whom I was always happy to help out. However when I moved to Gippsland and the company had changed to Australian Clinical Labs, I found the manager hard to get along with and there was not enough working hours on offer.

Friendships definitely not a wage or support from management

I intended to try and go from Healthscope Pathology into the hospitals and then progress into working with Healthscope Hospitals but QML took over so I am lucky to have been taken with them.
