Harry the Hirer chooses its staff extremely well and always gain hard working dedicated employees who support each other which is helpful with the very punishing workloads and deadlines. 
An average day would involve interacting with people from almost all departments including our interstate offices and suppliers whilst doing admin work involving dispatch and stock control AND physical work as well.
 My most enjoyable time was also the hardest part of the job during the biggest events when every single person in the company was stretched to their limit and was exciting to see what we all achieved at the end of it all. It was always a vibrant and satisfying job when we were pushed to our hardest. 
Unfortunately there is a "suck it up" culture many of my co workers found it difficult to adapt to with little feedback, positive or negative... I think this company definitely needs a better HR dept but I enjoyed my 14 years with the company and was quite sad to leave and move on but I was ready to progress to new challenges and more growth in a similar industry with the administration and logistics skills i had honed in the fourteen years with this company.

The job itself is fine, the work isn’t hard. If you have hands, you can do it. There is no work life balance in this job so kiss your life goodbye if you want to work here. I should add that you won’t be getting any extra overtime pay unless you pass 12 hours on a shift. There is no additional pay for working weekends or nights (certain times) If you want progression in the company, be prepared to have a carrot waved in your face. This is a good gig if you’re single and have no commitments outside of work. There is also a hierarchy in the business. Office people won’t say much to you. They do their thing and the workers do theirs. They have their own xmas party and the workers have theirs. 

I found everyone very welcoming and helpful. A good place to work and the wage did not match the effort being put in on my part. I learnt a lot of news things with regards to erecting marquees. The management where always keen to offer any advice or help that was required when I started. Only downside was that I was a casual worker and did not benefit from overtime rates, I found this frustrating as I was working long hours for no real benefit.

Never a set shift always different hours and makes it hard to plan anything outside of work

Friendly, professional and fun

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Could be a 4hr night shift, 8 hr Sunday shift. You never know.

I enjoyed working for Harry the Hirer, in a environment with fun and friendly colleagues. However, the workload is very inconsistent and there is patches where the work significantly dries up. During busy periods, I worked 5/6 days a week with long hours, which was ideal for me. However, sometimes you can go a couple of weeks without picking up a single shift. All I would say is that you cannot expect a stable income whilst working there.

what I learned: how to build and take down marquees safely how it is run.
management: excellent management crew enjoyed working under all managers.
co-workers: got along with all colleagues and enjoy their company, good team environment.
hardest part: was challenging which i enjoy.
enjoyable part: good communicating within environment continuous work on a daily basis.

Responisiblites included, lifting structure into position and building before being raised upright. Customer communications, managing crews as well as being managed as part of a crew. a typical day was a 12 hour shift with 20 minute and 40 minute break within. The hardest part was motivating new starts but seeing a job through to completion was a suitable reward for me

My job was to: 
1. assist in loading and unloading trucks
2. Erecting and pulling down astrodomes / tents
3. Driving 3 Tonne Truck
4. Communicating with clients
5. Being present at the events in case of problems that needed fixing

Great place to work at with friendly helpful people from all walks of life. Loyal company to their long term employees. Quality check and clean furniture or kitchen items for Major Events eg Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, Grand Prix and also private clientele.
